Rare stones grace the suspended upper dial of Akhor’s poetic interpretation of time.
Akhor, an independent Swiss watch brand spearheaded by Anissa Bader, made its debut one year ago at Geneva Watch Days. Unlike many newcomers to the scene, Akhor benefits from Bader’s ties to Clamax, a watch component and micromechanics manufacturer based in Geneva. The inaugural watch was the poetic Le Temps en Equilibre, based on a patented dual-disc architecture powered by the brand’s proprietary manual-winding calibre AK-10. Determined to leave a mark, all Akhor’s watches since 2026 bear the prestigious Poinçon de Genève seal. For this edition of Geneva Watch Days, Akhor returns with the AK-10 embellished with natural Stromatolite and Maw Sit Sit stone dials.
All the watches are built on Bader’s premise of “suspended time” with a patented two-level double-disc custom-engineered by Clamax for Akhor. The dial features a solid and suspended upper plate with a central seconds hand; the hour and minute hands are hidden beneath the upper plate and are only partially visible, peeking out to indicate the hours and minutes on the chapter ring of the lower disc.
The new models, in stainless steel or rose gold cases, share the same 39mm x 11mm cushion-shaped profile as the straightforward time-only models. The crown features the brand’s signature hobnail knurling to enhance grip during winding, and the sapphire crystals front and back reveal the layered dial and movement. The rose gold model features brilliant-cut diamonds in the bezel.
The novelty here is the incorporation of rare ornamental stones on the upper disc of the dial, designed to contrast with the white sunburst lower dial. The rose gold model is paired with red Stromatolite, one of the oldest known fossils dating to 3.5 billion years ago. Revealing rich, swirling patterns in red, ochre, burgundy and brown, the red Stromatolite pairs well with the rose-gold case and appliqués on the dial. Sourced exclusively in the foothills of Myanmar’s Himalayas, Maw Sit Sit is a rare stone with an incredibly vibrant, almost electric green colour traversed by dark mineral veins. Used to adorn the upper disc of the steel model, the combination of white and green is eye-catching.
The manual-winding AK-10 movement operates at 28,800vph and delivers a 60-hour power reserve from a single barrel. Comprising 117 components, the movement features a variable inertia balance and a stop-seconds mechanism. Distinguished by the Poinçon de Genève hallmark, the movement is also chronometer-certified.
The AK-10 Stromatolite and Maw Sit Sit are paired with white alligator leather straps and a rose gold or steel folding clasp. The price is to be confirmed.
