The Delma Heritage Chronograph 100 Years Limited Edition
Delma contiues to celebrate a century of watchmaking, with a new and handsome accessible chronograph.
A rather discreet Swiss brand, Delma was founded in 1924 by brothers Adolf and Albert Gilomen as A. & A. Gilomen S.A. in Lengnau and currently operating from the same Swiss town. Following a takeover led by Ulrich Wüthrich in 1966, the company was renamed Delma Watch Ltd. This year, as you’d expect, is an important one for the brand, celebrating 100 years of continuous activity. Following an unexpected tourbillon model, the brand goes back to its classic segment with an accessible, slightly retro stopwatch. Meet the Delma Heritage Chronograph 100 Years Limited Edition.
While primarily known now for its highly capable, functional, and accessible dive watches – not many brands can produce a 5,000-metre resistant dive watch, and even fewer for less than 3K euros – the company also has quite some legacy in the field of chronographs, with the first example dating back 1946. Even today, the brand carries multiple stopwatches in its collection, with the classic Continental Pulsometer, the robust Montego, or the pilot-oriented Commander. For the 100th anniversary of the brand, Delma brings a follow-up to a watch we’ve first seen in 2021, the Heritage model, which was then equipped with a two-register movement.
As such, this new iteration retains the same case design, a classic, slightly retro-shaped chronograph in stainless steel with polished surfaces, and oversized pump pushers on the flank. Even though it somehow pays tribute to the brand’s past models, the Delma Heritage Chronograph is a modern watch with presence, measuring 43mm in diameter, 15.7mm in thickness and 51mm in length. The case is equipped with a sapphire crystal over the dial and a see-through back, and comes with a comfortable 100m water-resistance.
The dial is where things get really interesting, with a bold yet vintage look. The sunray-brushed base features large, luminous Arabic numerals that are framed by a red line, paired with syringe-type luminous hands. The tone-on-tone counters are snailed and, considering the evolution of the movement from a Sellita SW510 to a Valjoux 7750, the display has changed to now a 6-9-12 three-register style with day-date complication. Complementing this dial is a black leather strap with red stitchings.
Inside the case is the most classic of all chronograph movement, the ETA Valjoux 7750, here with custom rotor, Geneva stripes, perlage and blued screws. It runs at a 4Hz frequency and stores up to 48h of power reserve. The chronograph features a 30-minute and a 12-hour counter.
The stylish Delma Heritage Chronograph 100 Years Limited Edition will be produced in 100 pieces only, and is now available. It is priced at CHF 2,550 or EUR 2,900. For more details, please visit www.delmawatches.com.
