The New Cvstos Challenge Chrono Sprint
A high-octane sports chronograph inspired by the F1 sprint race format
Introduced last year, Formula 1 sprint races were designed to provide a short and fast-paced racing spectacle over 100km in around 25 to 30 minutes; the idea is also to bring more action to the track during race week-ends… As its name suggests, the Cvstos Challenge Chrono Sprint is a high-octane sports chronograph inspired by the new race format!
The Cvstos Challenge Chrono Sprint is a chronograph with racy lines, designed with automotive elements in mind, more specifically the Formula 1 sprint race format. Its aggressive case design is traced by curved and stretched lines. The imposing (53.70mm x 41mm) sporty case comes in matte grade 5 titanium or black PVD coated grade 5 titanium. The matte finishing is obtained by sandblasting and microbead-blasting. Protected by dynamic guards, the screw-down crown features a rubber ring. The water-resistance is rated at 100m.
The racing inspiration is further visible with the dial and its unique layout. On the upper part of the dial, the oversized chronograph 30-minute counter is inspired by a dashboard speedometer. Just like for a tachymeter scale over 1km, it allows you to read your average speed over the 100km of a Formula 1 sprint race (raced over 100km in around 25 to 30 minutes). The lower part of the dial is partially-openworked with horizontal blades that are angled to replicate the lines of a sports cars’ air intake cover. Last, it features an original vertical day-date displayed highlighted in blue or red.
The watch is powered by the automatic calibre CVS556 SPRT, running at 4Hz and with 48 hours of power reserve. Visible via the exhibition case back, it is rhodium treated with a tungsten alloy rotor.
The Cvstos Challenge Chrono Sprint is worn on an integrated rubber strap with a colour stripe. It is released in two limited editions of 30 watches each: grade 5 titanium with red details or black PVD titanium with blue details. The price is set at CHF 24,800.

Racing aesthetics well achieved. I only see one drawback: For that price, the logical thing is DLC instead of the PVD it has.
