More than three decades after its debut in 1993, the Offshore remains arguably the version of the iconic Royal Oak best suited to an active summer lifestyle. Nicknamed “The Beast” when it was launched, the Royal Oak Offshore challenged the conventions of luxury watchmaking with its oversized proportions, visible rubber elements and bold, muscular design… With summer just around the corner, Audemars Piguet unveils two vibrant trios of Royal Oak Offshore Chronographs in 42 mm and 37 mm sizes. These six colourful new references are powered by its latest generation of integrated chronograph movements: the Calibre 4404 for the 42 mm models and the newly introduced Calibre 6401 for the 37 mm versions.

A TRIO OF 42MM ROO

Starting with the three 42 mm Royal Oak Offshore Chronographs, these feature the collection’s signature Mega Tapisserie dial pattern, enlivened by striking accents in turquoise and yellow, pink, and orange. The chronograph functions are highlighted through coordinated colours. Each watch uses a single accent colour for the chronograph hands, the tachymeter scale and the start-stop pusher at 2 o’clock, creating a dynamic and cohesive aesthetic.

Inside is the Calibre 4404, Audemars Piguet’s in-house integrated chronograph movement introduced in 2019 alongside the launch of the Code 11.59 collection. This modern architecture combines a column-wheel mechanism with a vertical clutch, ensuring precise and smooth chronograph operation. Running at 4 Hz, it offers a 70-hour power reserve. We get two versions in stainless steel with a black dial and pink accents or a silver-toned aesthetic with orange accents. The third model comes in titanium with yellow and turquoise details against a dark grey dial. All three references are equipped with interchangeable calfskin straps with coloured stitching. The price for all three is set at CHF 33,600.

Quick facts: 42mm x 15,3mm case – titanium or stainless steel, brushed & polished – sapphire crystal front & back – single coloured chronograph pusher – 100m water-resistant – mega-tapisserie dial in black, silver or dark grey with coloured accents – luminous markers & hands – Self-winding calibre 4401, in-house – automatic chronograph – 28,800vph – 70h power reserve  interchangeable calfskin strap with pin buckle – CHF 33,600

A TRIO OF 37MM ROO

The three 37 mm references bring a colourful summer spirit to a more compact format. Mounted on rubber straps, they retain the distinctive Royal Oak Offshore character while offering proportions suited to a broader range of wrists. Powering these models is Audemars Piguet’s latest integrated chronograph movement. Unveiled earlier this year, the new Calibre 6401 operates at 4 Hz and provides a power reserve of 55 hours.

Developed specifically for smaller cases, the calibre measures 27 mm in diameter and 5.7 mm in thickness, compared to the 32 mm diameter of the Calibre 4404. This is not the first 37mm Offshore Chronograph, as we had versions a few years ago powered by the Calibre AP 2385 (which was derived from the Frédéric Piguet 1185), but the change to in-house movements, specifically with the current trend for smaller watches, was to be expected.

The first two versions come in titanium with either a turquoise tapisserie dial and a clean bezel, or with a pink dial and a diamond-set steel bezel. The last version is the most beguiling one, as it features a pink gold case with a diamond-set bezel paired with a light blue dial.

Quick facts: 37mm x 11,5mm case – titanium or pink gold, brushed & polished – clean or diamond-set bezel- sapphire crystal front & back – 50m water-resistant  – tapisserie dial in turquoise, pink or light blue – luminous markers & hands – Self-winding calibre 6401, in-house – automatic chronograph – 28,800vph – 55h power reserve – interchangeable rubber strap with pin buckle – CHF 32,500 (titanium) – CHF 36,300 (titanium & diamonds) – CHF 54,100 (gold & diamonds)
