The New Ace Jewelers x Nivada Grenchen F77 Amsterdam
A tribute to the city where the Ace Jewelers boutique is located a few steps from the famous Museum Square.
Ace Jewelers, the family-owned Dutch jewellery and watch retailer, has been a prominent name in the industry for almost half a century. The company’s reputation has made limited-edition collaborations with watch brands possible, such as special Amsterdam editions of Ace together with Frederique Constant and Nomos; there was also an Amsterdam-themed “Ace” watch with Cedric Bellon. Ace Jewelers’ latest collaboration once again involves Nivada Grenchen, responsible already for this collaborative model. And now it’s time to say hello to the new Ace Jewelers x Nivada Grenchen F77 Amsterdam.
Released in 2023, the F77 Automatic is a revival of a vintage watch originally produced by Nivada in 1977. This reissue incorporates modifications to meet contemporary standards and cater to the brand’s fan base. Nivada actively engaged with its audience on social media for several months, gathering feedback and adjusting accordingly. Despite these updates, the new F77 remains a faithful interpretation of the historical piece, aligning perfectly with Nivada’s reissue and revival concept – including recent titanium editions.
The new Nivada F77 series retains the sharp design of the original model, featuring a 37mm diameter case and a thickness of 12.6mm. The case showcases a distinctive raised octagonal bezel secured by eight screws, preserving the look of the vintage model. The facetted stainless steel case of the Ace Jewelers x Nivada Grenchen F77 Amsterdam mirrors the rest of the series, featuring alternating brushed and polished surfaces. It includes a double-domed sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown, and a solid caseback engraved with the timepiece’s number in the limited edition of 50 pieces.
What sets the Ace Jewelers x Nivada Grenchen F77 Amsterdam limited edition apart is its striking black matte dial, adorned with applied silver-coloured indices and an applied red XXX just below the Nivada logo (a reference to the city’s flag). The distinctive baton central hour and minute hands feature luminous inserts, while the central seconds hand stands out in red, complete with a rectangular “lollipop” tip touched with lume.
The F77 Amsterdam edition features a clean, no-date design. It is powered by the Soprod P024 movement (an ETA 2824 clone) with a 38-hour power reserve. It comes with an integrated 3-link brushed steel bracelet secured by a folding clasp. It is priced at EUR 1,270, taxes included. For more details and orders, please visit acejewelers.com.
