The Refreshing Tissot PRX Mint Green

The mint green automatic is everything we hoped it would be: a lovely watch at an unbeatable price.

In 2021, Tissot introduced the PRX collection, a lineup that perfectly captured the essence of its 1970s inspiration with a barrel-shaped case, integrated bracelet, and quartz movement. A few months later, the design was reissued, featuring the Powermatic 80 movement. It quickly became clear that the series was perfectly in tune with the growing trend of integrated sports watches, and the Tissot PRX emerged as one of the Swatch Group brand’s biggest successes in recent years. Three years later, the collection continues to expand and now includes 35 and 40-mm models powered by quartz and Powermatic 80 automatic movements and 42-mm automatic chronographs, with a variety of dial colours that make the PRX such a compelling offer. This year, the mint green hue that previously adorned the quartz-powered PRX references made it to the PRX Powermatic 80 line in both 35mm and 40mm. We gladly share our impressions of the 40mm reference, which captures the summer vibes ideally – like the 2023 PRX with the ice-blue dial

The Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 40mm Mint Green retains the exact specifications as the other 40mm models in the collection, featuring the signature barrel-shaped brushed stainless steel case and a perfectly round, bright polished bezel that provides a striking contrast, fitting seamlessly into the sports watch genre. The watch has a sleek profile, with a case height of just 10.9mm, making it very comfortable on the wrist. The bracelet enhances this comfort, which offers excellent articulation, with the end links curving downwards to follow the wrist’s natural shape. The bracelet, finished with the same brushed texture as the case, includes an easy-change feature, allowing you to swap it for a strap, although PRX Mint Green truly shines with the metal-on-metal look, both in appearance and feel—a refined, well-constructed watch. The flat sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective coating, the screw-down caseback is transparent, and the watch is water-resistant to 100 meters.

The dial is undoubtedly what makes the PRX Powermatic 80 Mint Green so appealing, capturing attention with its light, cool-toned green hue and embossed tapisserie pattern. This combination creates a youthful, fresh, and serene aesthetic. While there’s a hint of Tiffany’s turquoise in the color, it’s distinctively different, especially when the textured surface catches the light. The dial is elegantly adorned with slender, polished indices, complemented by a handset that follows the same refined design while featuring Super-LumiNova inserts. The black-printed minutes ring, Tissot logo, and series name contrast sharply against the mint green backdrop, while the date window at 3 o’clock is clear and legible with its black-on-white display, making it easy to check the date at a glance.

Timekeeping is handled by the reliable, next-generation Powermatic 80 automatic movement, a Swatch Group exclusive workhorse boasting an 80-hour power reserve. Flip the watch over, and the movement is on full display. Take a moment to play with the motion of the decorated rotor—it reveals more of the components, allowing you to appreciate the robust construction.

The brushed steel single-link bracelet, complete with a butterfly clasp and safety push-buttons, is a standout feature of the PRX series, contributing significantly to the appeal of this and all other models in the collection. The quality of the bracelet rivals that of much higher-priced timepieces, but the PRX Powermatic 80 Mint Green will cost you just EUR 775. Tissot has genuinely excelled with this collection, hitting all the right notes. The new Mint Green dial version is another triumph, offering a fresh and contemporary aesthetic that feels inviting and gentle. While “soothing,” “calm,” and “peaceful” might not be the first words that come to mind when discussing a sports watch, they perfectly capture the essence of this timepiece.

  1. A very pleasing trendy colored dial and acceptable case only if they remove the plastic movement parts.
