The New and Colourful Louis Erard 2300 Chronograph Sport in Titanium
The sporty series gets a fresh and colourful addition to the creative brand's offer.
The La Sportive collection of chronographs, a staple in Louis Erard‘s catalogue for several years, has been rebranded to reflect the brand’s forward-looking vision – now called the 2300 collection. The name also pays homage to the postal code of La-Chaux-de-Fonds, a watchmaking centre near Le Noirmont, where Louis Erard is based. To mark this meaningful transition, Louis Erard is launching a limited edition of three chronographs, which are similar to the earlier La Sportive series but with uniquely designed dials and housed in titanium cases. We spent some time with this striking trio, and here’s our concise report.
Each of the new Louis Erard 2300 Chronographs is presented in a 50m water-resistant, grade 5 titanium 44mm case with a three-piece construction featuring a tachymeter bezel with a black ceramic insert, glass-box sapphire crystal over the dial and screw-down display caseback. The case is mainly satin-finished, with polish applied to bevels, fluted crown and classic chronograph pushers. It is 15mm thick, measures 52.4 lug-to-lug and wears as a sizeable sporty timepiece, only the lightweight nature of titanium makes Louis Erard 2300 Chronograph feel less cumbersome, to an agreeable level.
The dial designs are what set apart the three new editions of the 2300 Chronograph, aptly named Sport Rainbow, Sport Blue, and Sport Khaki. All three models are powered by the ETA/Valjoux 7750 chronograph movement, which dictates the dial layout. This includes the 12-hour chronograph counter at 6 o’clock and the 30-minute counter at 12, and here on all variants both rendered in matte silver. The running seconds subdial sits at 9 o’clock, but in all three versions, the subdial is the same colour as the dial base – black, blue, or green – blending in and creating the illusion of a two-subdial design even from a short distance.
The thick, bevelled rhodium-plated baton-style indices feature a strip of Super-LumiNova down the middle for enhanced visibility. The central hour and minute hands are also rhodium-plated and lume-filled, glowing either blue or green in low light, depending on the model. The wide minutes’ track, circling the dial, features a bold design resembling piano keys. On the Sport Rainbow, the track showcases vibrant rainbow colours; the Sport Blue alternates between blue and white accents, while the Sport Khaki pairs lighter khaki green with orange.
The chronograph hands also differ by model: matte yellow on the Blue, orange and red on the Khaki, and a combination of rhodium-plated and black on the Rainbow. The 30-minute counters on the Blue and Khaki versions feature a regatta-counter-style detail, with the first 5-minute segment highlighted in grey and orange, respectively. The day and date windows at 3 o’clock complete the functional layout for each variant.
As noted, the new Louis Erard 2300 Chronographs are powered by the ETA 7750 movement, elaboré-grade, which has been customized with a skeletonized rotor featuring the brand’s logo. This movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 48 hours.
Each watch is paired with an FKM rubber strap that matches the dial colour – black, blue, or Khaki. The straps are equipped with quick-release spring bars, making strap changes effortless, and are secured with a titanium folding buckle for added durability.
The Louis Erard 2300 Chronograph models – Sport Rainbow, Sport Blue, and Sport Khaki – are priced at CHF 3,333 (excluding taxes) and are limited to just 99 pieces per variant. For more, visit louiserard.com.
