Time+Tide x Frederique Constant Highlife Moonphase Manufacture Onyx Moon
A dramatic black onyx dial by Time+Tide for the first Highlife Moonphase and an integrated Jubilee steel bracelet.
frederiqueconstant.timeandtidewatches.comFounded in 1988, Frederique Constant has gone from strength to strength with its policy of high-quality watches at affordable prices. Far from an empty catchphrase, the brand’s “accessible luxury” slogan materialised with the release of a perpetual calendar, followed by a tourbillon and a QP in steel, all with unbelievably restrained price tags. In 2020, FC expanded its classical, dressier offering with the Highlife luxury sports watch collection. With its contemporary good looks, robust build and integrated bracelets, the Highlife has gained a solid footing in the competitive luxury sports category, outpacing the brand’s original sales forecasts. And now our friends of Time+Tide have released this collaboration, an incredibly sleek, sharp and mysterious watch, the first Highlife to feature a moon phase, a Jubilee-style bracelet and an indexless dial.
Founded eleven years ago in Melbourne, Australia, our friends at Time+Tide have come a long way and are now a global media platform and retailer, with Discovery Studios in Melbourne and London, and New York. Marking Time+Tide’s tenth collaboration, the 41mm Highlife undergoes a sea change. For the first time in its five-year history, the Highlife is powered by the new Moonphase Date Manufacture calibre FC-716, previously seen in the Classic collection.
However, what really sets the tone of the watch is the inky-black onyx dial. While FC has produced watches with stone dials, including the recently released Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture in yellow gold with an onyx dial, and the stunning turquoise, lapis lazuli, and heliotrope dials of the brand’s 37th anniversary The Elements collection, none of these feature the radical minimalism of the T+T Highlife Moonphase.
Unlike regular Highlife models, the collaboration watch dispenses with the embossed globe motif on the dial, revealing the dramatic black, light-absorbing onyx stone. What’s more, the applied indices have been eliminated, and the central hands with their faceted brushed and polished finishes are stripped of their luminescence.
Matching the darker mood of the watch, the moon phase aperture at 6 o’clock features a black star-studded sky while the date numerals are white with a red number 31, matching the Geneve inscription below the brand name at noon. Moreover, the moon has pockmarks, giving it a more realistic texture.
The 41mm stainless steel case with a thickness of approximately 12.5mm, a lug-to-lug of 45mm and water-resistance of 100 metres, now flaunts an integrated Jubilee-style five-link steel bracelet with brushed and polished finishes. Equipped with the brand’s quick-release system, the watch comes with an additional black nubuck-style leather strap and a black textured rubber strap.
Released last year, the new and improved automatic Manufacture calibre FC-716 has a larger barrel that can store a power reserve of three days or 72 hours, translating into an increased autonomy of almost 90% over earlier movements. To accommodate the larger barrel, the redesigned bridges are decorated with fan-shaped Côtes de Genève, visible through the openworked rotor.
Limited to 100 pieces worldwide, 50 pieces of the Onyx Moon will be retailed by Frederique Constant and 50 by Time+Tide. Available from 12/12/2025 at 6PM CET, the watch retails for EUR 4,895, GBP 4,350 or USD 5,695.
