The Frederique Constant Classic Moonphase Date Malachite Limited Edition
A new stone dial and white gold case highlight this special limited release.
Frederique Constant has updated its Classic Moonphase Date Manufacture with a premium 18k white gold case and green malachite dial that’s being released in limited numbers. It’s aesthetically similar to the British racing green (dial) steel variant from a few months ago, but is now much more premium with the change in materials. The watch is otherwise nigh identical to the aforementioned models, but this added luxury and exclusivity make a significant difference. The in-house automatic remains as well for the most refined piece in the series for true Frederique Constant enthusiasts.
The polished, three-part 18k white gold case is 40mm in diameter with a height of 12.4mm. A bit large for a traditional dress watch, but certainly not cumbersome. An anti-reflective convex sapphire crystal protects the dial and there’s a sapphire exhibition case back. Water resistance is rated at 30 metres. The watch comes fitted with a dark green alligator leather strap with colour-matched stitching and a folding buckle.
The dial steals the show and is a first for the brand – green malachite. It’s a relatively soft stone with natural streaks varying from light green to black. A moonphase and pointer date sub-dial sits at 6 o’clock, while silver applied indices and alpha hour/minute hands contrast well against the green background. A white railway minute track spans the outer perimeter.
Powering the watch is the in-house FC-716 automatic with 26 jewels, a beat rate of 28,800vph (4Hz) and a 72-hour power reserve. The bridges are decorated with fan-shaped Côtes de Genève. Functions include central hours, minutes and seconds, moonphase and pointer date (within a 6 o’clock sub-dial).
The new Classic Moonphase Date Manufacture Limited Edition is limited to just 36 pieces and each is individually numbered. It’s priced at EUR 29,995. For more information, please visit Frederique Constant’s website.
