Tissot Expands its Accessible Le Locle Collection with Two New Models

Classic and functional, these new Tissot references are made to be noticed each in its own way.

In 2023, the Tissot Le Locle collection marked its 20th anniversary, and with the addition of the two new models, it now comprises 30 references. Renowned for its classic yet engaging design, the collection offers elegant, timeless elements and practical features, appealing to those seeking a refined, understated timepiece with an exceptional price-quality ratio. Let’s explore the latest additions: the Le Locle Powermatic 80 Green and the Le Locle COSC 39mm 18K Gold Bezel. While each model embodies the collection’s core values, they bring a unique allure to the lineup.

Le Locle Powermatic 80 Green

While this model isn’t new to the series, its presentation certainly is. The latest Le Locle Powermatic 80 retains the classic elements of the collection, housed in a nicely finished 39.3mm stainless steel case, just 9.75mm thick and water-resistant to 30 meters. The case is topped with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and features a see-through caseback with engravings that combine practical details with ornamental embellishments, including the Tissot logo.

The green dial, a first for this case size, sets this new version apart. The dial showcases the collection’s signature Clous de Paris guilloché-style embossed pattern, with a flat sunray-brushed ring that holds silver-toned applied Roman numerals. Additional elements include plaque-like areas above and below the centre that display the series name and the Tissot 1853 logo. The leaf-shaped hour and minute hands match the case and stand against the green backdrop, while the central seconds hand glides smoothly across the dial. A functional date window at 3 o’clock, with a white disc and black numerals, completes the timepiece’s practical features.

As its name implies, this Le Locle model is powered by the Powermatic 80 calibre, the Swatch Group’s refined evolution of the famous ETA 2824. This movement offers an 80-hour power reserve and enhanced magnetic resistance thanks to its Nivachron hairspring while operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations/hour. The watch comes paired with a versatile, interchangeable, quick-release 7-link stainless steel bracelet secured by a butterfly clasp with safety push buttons. For those looking to switch up the style, a grey strap with a pin buckle is available at an additional cost. Offering remarkable value, the Le Locle Powermatic 80 is priced at EUR 725.

Le Locle COSC 39mm 18K Gold Bezel

The new Le Locle COSC 39mm 18K Gold Bezel is the most expensive offering in Tissot’s otherwise affordably priced Le Locle collection, at EUR 1,845. This is justified by it being the only model in the series to feature a solid 18K gold bezel (as opposed to PVD-coated alternatives) and boasts a COSC-certified Powermatic 80 movement.

This latest Le Locle reference maintains the familiar 39.3mm case and dial design that defines the collection, blending elegance with a touch of luxury. While the overall aesthetic remains quite understated, the solid gold bezel makes Le Locle COSC 39mm a versatile timepiece equally suited for daily wear and special occasions.

  1. Ugly black lettering on white dial. Green one more harmonious. By the way the same could be said about Grand Seiko, as if GS is not enough.
