When IWC revived the Ingenieur in 2023, it did so by returning to Gérald Genta’s integrated-bracelet design, with functional screws, a structured dial and an emphasis on all things technical. Last year’s full-black ceramic Ingenieur Automatic 42 was quite exemplary. For 2026, IWC takes a more nuanced step with the Ingenieur Automatic 42 in dark olive green ceramic.

The 42mm x 11.5mm case of this new IWC Ingenieur Automatic retains the multi-part ceramic construction with satin-brushed surfaces, polished bevels, and a final sandblasted finish, introduced with the black model. The olive green tone is achieved by blending zirconium oxide with metallic oxides, a process that requires complete control, as the final colour only stabilises during sintering. Ensuring visual consistency across case, bezel, caseback ring and bracelet is a technical feat in itself. Instead of a conventional movement container, a thin titanium ring secures the calibre and anchors the functional screws from front and back. Sapphire crystals are pressed directly into the ceramic components, allowing the proportions and angles of the original steel Ingenieur to be faithfully reproduced in ceramic form. Water resistance is 100m.

Warm metallic accents punctuate the olive green ceramic. The screw-down crown is crafted from 18k 5N gold, and the bezel screws are made from Armor Gold, IWC’s proprietary alloy with increased hardness. On the dial, gold-plated hands and applied indices, filled with Super-LumiNova, provide contrast against the matching green stamped “Grid” dial. The date window at 3 o´clock, gold-framed, the IWC logo at 12 and the historical lightning bolt logo at 6 o’clock complete the layout.

Like the black ceramic reference of last year, the new IWC Ingenieur Automatic 42 in Dark Olive Green Ceramic is powered by the manufacture calibre 82110 with the Pellaton winding system, visible through a sapphire caseback. The movement, decorated with the Geneva stripes, operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour and provides a 60-hour power reserve. The integrated ceramic bracelet matches the case in finishes and connects with its middle links; it is closed with a butterfly clasp. Price is CHF 22,000. For more information, please visit IWC.com.
