The New Girard-Perregaux Laureato 38mm in Sage Green and Midnight Blue
The dial colours reserved until now for the brand's larger Laureato models make it to the smaller series in steel.
Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic Laureato, first introduced by Girard-Perregaux in 1975. Its distinctive design—centred around a tonneau-shaped case, slim, raised octagonal bezel with circular plinth, and integrated bracelet—has evolved over decades while remaining true to the original spirit, a tradition upheld by the latest releases. The two new time-only Laureato 38mm in Sage Green and Midnight Blue are perfectly sized and feature dial colours borrowed from the 42mm Laureato models, expanding Girard-Perregaux’s offer of its iconic luxury sports watch line.
The new Girard-Perregaux Laureato 38mm models in Sage Green and Midnight Blue feature a polished and satin-finished stainless steel case, 10.02mm thick and 100m water-resistant, showcasing the collection’s signature octagonal bezel atop a raised circular base. This design, introduced during the collection’s 2017 relaunch, offers a more substantial presence than the slimmer bezel of the original 35mm quartz-powered Laureato from 1975 and often invites comparisons to the Royal Oak.
Yet, the Laureato stands apart with its softer, more rounded lines, staying true to the elegant and almost dressy feel of the original model, while in contrast, the Royal Oak leans towards a sharper, more angular design with a distinctly sporty character. The flat sapphire crystal with AR coating is standard, the polished display caseback, secured with screws, the fluted crown, engraved with the GP logo, and the integrated bracelet featuring polished central links complete the design, offering a look that feels familiar.
The Sage Green and Midnight Blue dials of the new steel Laureato 38mm maintain the collection’s signature design. The Clous de Paris (hobnail) pattern, achieved through stamping, adds texture, while the applied baton-style, arrow-shaped rhodium-plated indices are treated with lume for enhanced visibility. The hour and minute hands share the same design and finish. Beyond the dial colours, a key distinction between the two references lies in the detailing: the Sage Green variant features a gold-plated GP logo and central seconds hand for added elegance, while the Midnight Blue version opts for rhodium plating on these elements. Both models include a date window at 3 o’clock with a background colour matching the dial. The inclined flange with the minutes track is also colour-matched to the dials.
The new Laureato 38mm models are powered by the GP03300-2476, a self-winding movement from the GP03300 family, offering a 46-hour power reserve and an operating frequency of 28,800 vibrations/hour. Through the exhibition caseback, you can admire the traditional decoration, including Geneva stripes, circular graining, bevelling, snailing, and engravings, all complemented by a rotor crafted from pink gold.
Priced at CHF 14,300 each, these new references are offered as non-limited editions, joining the Laureato 38mm Copper model and expanding the previously limited range of options in the collection.
