Delma Adds a Meteorite Dial to its Midland Automatic

Delma’s Midland collection is the brand’s sporty-chic take on the integrated-bracelet watch, bringing some 1980s flavour to the category. The watches in this collection come in two sizes, 40mm and 34mm, with the automatic 40mm versions sitting at an accessible price point of around EUR 1,400. We have already seen the Midland in multiple colours, including the purple version released last year, while the collection also plays with shades such as ice blue, green, and classic blue. Fast forward to now, and Delma swaps the colourful dials for something more quirky in the affordable-luxury watch world: a genuine meteorite dial, with the new Delma Midland Meteorite Automatic.

The new watch keeps the 40.5mm stainless-steel case of the classic automatic Midland models, including its tonneau-shaped profile, fluted bezel, and integrated bracelet. Its case measures 14mm thick and 47mm from lug to lug, with brushed surfaces and polished bevels adding some contrast to its angular shape. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the dial, while water resistance is rated at 100 metres.

But let’s talk about the dial; we are all here for that celestial effect, after all. The pyramid guilloche pattern you have seen so far on previous Delma Midland gives way to an all-new dial made from genuine Muonionalusta meteorite. Cut and finished, the material shows its natural Widmanstätten pattern, so each dial will naturally have a slightly different arrangement of crystalline lines. Delma keeps the rest of the dial fairly simple, as always, with applied indexes, a discreet minute track, and palladium-nickel-plated hour and minute hands filled with Super-LumiNova BGW9. All in all, this is the same Midland we know, just with its meteorite dial doing most of the talking.

The Delma Midland Meteorite Automatic uses the Swiss Sellita SW200-1 (an alternative to the ETA 2824), with a customised Delma rotor visible through the exhibition caseback. It runs at 28,800 vibrations/hour and provides 41 hours of power reserve. Hours, minutes, central seconds, and a date at 3 o’clock complete the display. 

The integrated stainless-steel bracelet has brushed surfaces and polished edges, secured by a folding clasp with pushers. Limited to 100 pieces, the Delma Midland Meteorite Automatic is priced at EUR 1,700. That is around EUR 300 more than the regular automatic Midland, which does not seem unreasonable for a genuine meteorite dial on the same robust and reliable platform.
