The New De Bethune DB25NC Monopusher Chronograph

The calibre DB3000 chronograph now housed in a 40mm DB25 case.

The mono-pusher chronograph has become a signature complication for De Bethune and Denis Flageollet. The DB1, the brand’s first watch in 2002, was a monopusher chrono using the movement developed by THA. It was followed by several other mono-pusher chronographs among which the DB8 in 2003, the DB28 Maxichrono in 2014 and the DB Eight in 2023. De Bethune now unveils a new monopusher chronograph, the compact and superbly elegant DB25NC Monopusher Chronograph.

In 2023, just ahead of Watches and Wonders, De Bethune unveiled a classical monopusher chronograph inspired by its first DB1, the DB Eight. Stripping down the complication to the purest, most essential expression, the model was powered by a new in-house caliber, the calibre DB3000, housed in a round 42.4mm titanium case with signature bullet-shaped lugs. Today, the brand releases its second watch using this in-house movement, the DB25NC Monopusher Chronograph.

The model comes in a reduced 40mm case, fashioned out of grade 5 titanium. As a model part of the DB25 collection, it stands out with its distinctive integrated and fixed openworked lugs. Just like for the DB Eight, the silver dial is minimalist and elegant. The large 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock with barleycorn guilloché is subtly contrasting against the, hand-engraved. The central area is decorated with a radiating guilloché pattern. Readability is further enhanced by blued hands and markings.

Visible via the exhibition caseback, the magnificent hand-wound calibre DB3000 is a column-wheel chronograph with an instantaneous 60-minute counter. Made of 296 parts, it integrates characteristic De Bethune features. The blued titanium balance wheel has white gold inserts and a flat terminal curved hairspring. The escape wheel is in silicon. As you have come to expect from Denis Flageollet, the decoration is sublime. All steels are hand-beveled and polished. The barrels are hand snailed.

The De Bethune DB25NC Monopusher Chronograph is worn on an alligator strap fitted with a titanium pin buckle. Price is set at CHF 80,000. For more information, please visit www.debethune.ch.

  1. Simply stunning, yet such understated elegance! It’s way out of my budget but instantly at the top of my “exit” watch list.
