The New Czapek Antarctique Polar Sky and Flying Diamonds Editions

Deep-blue, star-dappled aventurine dials for the brand’s integrated luxury sports watch.

Just ahead of the 2024 edition of Geneva Watch Days, independent watchmaking company Czapek unveils new editions of its acclaimed Antarctique sports watch with an integrated bracelet. Available in four different limited editions covering the two different sizes of this watch, they all feature captivating and sparkling blue aventurine dials and diamond indexes as an option.

The use of aventurine is not new at Czapek, as we have these glittering dark blue dials on the Quai des Bergues (2019) and Faubourg de Cracovie (2022) collections. As the brand’s CEO, Xavier de Roquemaurel, explains: “It’s a material that we love to play with, and it was a logical evolution to use it for the Antarctique – they were made to go together. Moreover, Antarctica is the world’s best spot for stargazing!”

Four different editions of the Czapek Antarctique Aventurine will be available. Two different dial iterations are available for both the standard 40.5mm size and the smaller 38.5mm size. The Polar Sky refer to the versions with traditional hour markers, while the Flying Diamonds versions are adorned with diamond hour markers. Interestingly, these have an original elongated trapezoidal cut that was registered and developed by Czapek with one of their suppliers, GT Cadrans. Their cases and the bracelets can also be set.

Without surprise, all four versions are powered by the beautiful calibre SXH5. Visible through the exhibition caseback, this in-house movement features an off-centred platinum 950 micro-rotor and seven bridges, five of which are openworked. Operating at 4Hz, it boasts a power reserve of 60 hours. It displays hours, minutes, and seconds – without a date.

The Czapek Antarctique Polar Sky and Flying Diamonds editions are presented on an integrated steel bracelet with an interchangeable system and a comfort extension. They also come with a spare rubber or leather strap. The retail prices are the following:

  • Antarctique Polar Sky, 40.5mm without diamonds – 99 pieces – CHF 26,000
  • Antarctique S Polar Sky, 38.5mm without diamonds – 77 pieces – CHF 26,000
  • Antarctique Flying Diamonds, 40.5mm with diamond indexes (optional diamond-set case and bracelet) – 8 pieces – CHF 42,800
  • Antarctique S Flying Diamonds, 38.5mm with diamond indexes (optional diamond-set case and bracelet) – 18 pieces – CHF 38,000
