Credor Goldfeather Tourbillon Engraved Limited Edition GBCF997
Radiating precision and beauty, the refined linear engravings extend beyond the dial to the movement.
Founded in 1974, Credor is Seiko’s high-end brand created to showcase Japanese haute horlogerie, artistic finishing and ultra-thin watchmaking. Originally exclusive to Japan, Credor began its international expansion in 2024 with the launch of the Locomotive model, a watch originally designed by Genta, and will consolidate its position as it will soon be exhibited at Watches & Wonders 2026. For the occasion, Credor unveils a new edition of its Goldfeather Tourbillon, the new Limited Edition GBCF997, a contemporary dress watch that echoes the thin, lightweight, and graceful qualities of a feather, now decorated with exquisite linear engravings.
The new Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF997 trades the traditional Japanese lacquer decoration of last year’s Goldfeather Tourbillon for a radial linear engraving spanning the platinum dial and visible components of the movement. This distinctive engraving technique, first applied to Credor’s calibre 68 over thirty years ago, is characterised by sharp grooves that capture the light. However, to avoid damaging the components of the ultra-thin movement, artisans at Credor’s manufacture adapt each tool to the contours of their hands to better control the pressure applied.
Almost satin-like in its texture, the platinum dial features a series of radiating ultra-fine engraved lines evoking the softness and diffused light reflection of a feather. Emanating from the centre of the dial, the ultra-fine straight lines are created by repeatedly guiding the chisel along the same line, advancing the cut little by little. Attesting to the extraordinary dominion of linear engraving, the seamless motif spans the two distinct, layered areas of the dial.
The peripheral chapter ring hosts elongated, sharply defined Roman numerals, also engraved by hand in relief, while the minute track features nanako engraving, a traditional Japanese engraving technique of finely aligned dots crafted with a round-tipped chisel. After engraving, a thin anti-corrosive plating is applied to the dial. The tourbillon, suspended beneath an intricately shaped and openworked bridge at 9 o’clock, is blue, matching the sharply defined hour and minute hands.
The reverse side offers yet another, more flamboyant, display of Credor’s mastery of engraving. Radiating outward from the centre of the tourbillon’s carriage bridge, the bold linear engraving punctuated with nanako dots extends seamlessly across four separate components. Enhanced with an arashi pattern – a series of scattered dots individually engraved with a hexagon-tipped chisel – the effect is nothing short of spectacular. As the brand points out, the movement receives a brushed finish before being engraved.
In line with Credor’s high-end status, the Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF997 is housed in a luxurious 38.6mm hand-polished platinum case with a slim 8.6mm profile. The flat sapphire crystal around the back reveals Credor’s calibre 6850, regulated by a tourbillon escapement and fitted with a large mainspring and barrel to provide a 60-hour power reserve.
The Credor Goldfeather Tourbillon Engraved Limited Edition GBCF997 is paired with a classic black crocodile leather strap and a triple-folding platinum clasp with push-button release. It is a limited edition of 25 pieces and retails for EUR 195,000. More information at credor.com.
