The Bright and Colourful New Cimier 711 Heritage Chronograph POP Collection
The brand's original and vintage-inspired chrono gets a splash of colour.
Presented in 2024, the Cimier 711 Heritage Chronograph is a modern reinterpretation of one of the brand’s 1960’s models, the Faux Chronographe, a simplified and affordable take on the chronograph watch. Produced in large quantities, it allowed users to measure short time intervals by initiating and halting the independent central seconds hand. If the modern take on the concept is now a full-fledged chronograph, it stands out by the unique positioning of its sub-dials at 7 and 11 o’clock – hence the name 711 – paired with both a tachymeter and a telemeter scale. Its tonneau-shaped case is also inspired by past models of the brand. After the inaugural green, blue and panda iterations, a fresh new palette of colours is unveiled with the POP collection: Tangerine, Pink, Aqua Blue and Lime Green.
The new Cimier 711 Heritage Chronograph POP Collection retains the design of the first three references. As such, you get a neo-vintage tonneau-shaped case with retro-style pump-pushers and a box sapphire crystal. Fashioned out of stainless steel, it comes with a relatively compact 39.5mm diameter and a very decent lug-to-lug of 47mm. Being an automatic chronograph, the thickness isn’t the best at 14.45mm, but the whole design, with a relatively thin middle case and a reasonable length, makes it pleasant on the wrist. Water resistance is rated at 100m, giving the 711 Heritage Chronograph good daily robustness.
The main attraction for this year is the dial, which has been given strong tones – to say the least. The new colours – tangerine, pink, aqua blue, and lime green – each add a fresh, joyful character to these pieces, which played on classic tones until now. These vibrant new hues inject a cool personality into the model, offering a playful twist on the concept. Legibility isn’t impacted either, thanks to contrasting black counters, large luminous Arabic numerals and scales printed in black – and white telemeter on the flange and a cool, snailed tachymeter in the centre. Of course, the position of the counters gives the 711 Heritage Chronograph a very strong character.
Turning the watch over, the exhibition caseback is secured by 8 screws. It reveals the automatic calibre CIM100. Beating at 28,800vph and with a 48-hour power reserve, it is based on a Valjoux 7750 architecture. The precise and reliable cam-and-lever automatic chronograph has been fitted with a dedicated module in relationship with the original 7-11 dial layout. Simple but clean, the finishing features circular graining, rhodium plating, and blued screws.
The four watches of the new Cimier 711 Heritage Chronograph POP Collection are delivered with a choice of a flat, supple calfskin leather strap, a steel mesh bracelet or an original steel bracelet. Quick-release spring bars allow you to switch these in seconds to change the personality of your watch. The price starts at CHF 2,480. For more information, please visit Cimier.com.
