The Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer Vendome One Limited Edition
While Paris gets a new luxury hotel, Chopard's Paris clients get a chance to own an exceptionally elegant timepiece.
Recently, luxury brand Chopard expanded its presence by opening a prestigious hospitality establishment at Place Vendôme 1, in Paris. This boutique hotel offers five rooms and ten suites, each uniquely decorated. To mark the opening of the Chopard Hotel, the brand has introduced the Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer Vendôme One, a special edition watch available exclusively from the brand’s boutique located on the ground floor of the hotel.
The new edition of the L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer model continues the tradition of earlier celebratory references, such as the L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer Royal Arms of England to mark the reopening of the Chopard boutique in London and the recent XPS 1860 Officer SHH Edition to honour the enduring partnership between the Maison and the Singapore retailer.
The Vendôme One edition, a testament to Chopard’s commitment to heritage, features an ethical 18-carat yellow gold 40mm x 7.7mm case with vertical satin-brushed flanks and inter-horn space, and a polished case-middle and caseback. Its crowning glory is the crown-integrated pusher, which opens the hinged cover that protects the exhibition caseback. This cover, a work of art in itself, is adorned with a hand-guilloché honeycomb motif on the outside and a hand-engraving of the Sun on the inside, a symbol closely associated with Louis XIV, the visionary king who commissioned the construction of Place Vendôme.
The dial design, featuring a hand-guilloché honeycomb pattern at its centre and a contrasting snailed small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, is also inspired by the reign of King Louis XIV. Blue, a symbol of royalty, adorns every door at Place Vendôme, contributing to the location’s elegance; reflecting this, the dial’s base is painted in Bering blue. The arrowhead-shaped indices and Dauphine-style hands are gilded to match the case metal, while a discreet aperture at the bottom of the dial displays the current date.
The elegant Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer Vendôme One offers chronometer-certified precision thanks to the ultra-thin, 3.3mm L.U.C 96.01-L movement, first introduced in 1996. It operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and is equipped with a 22k yellow gold micro-rotor and two barrels, providing a substantial 65-hour power reserve. The watch bears the prestigious Poinçon de Genève hallmark and boasts exceptional finishes, including Geneva stripes on the chamfered bridges, polished angles, and circular graining on the mainplate, all visible through the sapphire caseback.
The Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 Officer Vendôme One is an eight-piece limited edition; the watch comes on a brown calfskin strap with ecru bridle stitching, blue leather lining closed with a pin buckle in ethical 18-carat yellow gold and will be available exclusively from the Chopard Boutique on Place Vendôme, Paris. The exact price remains to be confirmed but should be approximately EUR 39,000. For more, please visit www.chopard.com.
