The New Bulgari Octo Finissimo Mattar Bin Lahej Limited Edition
Laser-engraved Arabic calligraphy on sandblasted titanium for Dubai Watch Week.
Attaining iconic status in the world of watchmaking is no easy feat. This, however, is what Bulgari has achieved in just ten years, with the bold contemporary Italian design and sophisticated Swiss mechanics of the Octo Finissimo lineup. Its impressive lineup turned the Roman Maison into a master of ultra-thin mechanical watchmaking, as the brand has set record after record for thinness. But beyond the records, the Octo Finissimo is a statement of style and modernity. Over the years, its contemporary design language has been reinterpreted in a variety of materials, sizes, and displays. The dial of the Octo Finissimo Automatic has also become a creative canvas for collaborations. On the occasion of Dubai Watch Week, Bulgari unveils a new version of the model reimagined with Emirati artist Mattar Bin Lahej.
Based on the Octo Finissimo Automatic, the limited-edition Mattar Bin Lahej x Octo Finissimo is adorned with laser-engraved Arabic calligraphy across its titanium case, bracelet, and dial. It draws inspiration from the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum: “The future will be for those who can imagine, design, and implement it. The future does not wait, but it can be designed and built today.” The specifications are otherwise the same as the classic sandblasted titanium model, with a 40mm diameter, a thickness of only 5mm, and a water-resistance of 30m.
A transparent caseback provides a perfect view of the extra-thin self-winding movement BVL 138 with a height of just 2.23mm. Decorated with Côtes de Genève stripes, chamfering, and circular-graining, it is wound thanks to a platinum micro-rotor. It provides 60 hours of power reserve and operates at 21,600vph.
Available as a limited edition of 10 pieces, the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Mattar Bin Lahej is presented on a sandblasted titanium bracelet with laser-engraved Arabic calligraphy and an integrated folding buckle. The watch will be priced at EUR 23,000.
