The Breitling Top Time Classic Cars Capsule Collection (Live Pics & Price)
Breitling revs up its engines with a trilogy of chronographs inspired by iconic American sports cars from the 1960s.
With Geneva Watch Days in full swing, Breitling introduces a capsule collection of chronographs inspired by three iconic American sports cars from the 1960s: the Chevrolet Corvette, the Ford Mustang and the Shelby Cobra. Animated with bold colours and a distinctive retro vibe, the dial and caseback of each chronograph feature the logo of each sports car. Although the capsule collection is not limited, it will only be produced for one year.
Top Time Chevrolet Corvette
With its racing red dial and black sub-dials, the Top Time Chevrolet Corvette is based on the Corvette C2 from the mid-1960s. Distributed from 1963 to 1967, the second-generation Chevrolet Corvette – aka the “Sting Ray” – was designed by Larry Shinoda. The Chevrolet Corvette watch measures 42mm and has a height of 13.65mm with piston-style pushers and 100m water-resistance.
A black tachymetre scale with orange and yellow markers from 400 to 1000 frames the bright red dial with three slightly recessed black sub-dials: 15-minute counter at 9 o’clock, 6-hour counter at 6 o’clock and small seconds at 3 o’clock. The hour and minute hands, as well as the indices, are treated with Super-LumiNova, and the car’s logo is depicted below the white Breitling inscription at noon.
Top Time Ford Mustang
Produced from 1964 to 1969, the first-generation Ford Mustang was a compact, affordable sports car that was extremely popular among rock stars and actors and featured in countless films. Sharing identical technical specifications as the Corvette, the Ford Mustang has a green dial and a black tachymetre scale with orange and yellow markers from 400 to 1000. The iconic Mustang horse is featured at noon.
The 42mm Chevrolet Corvette and Ford Mustang models are fitted with Breitling calibre 25, an ETA 2892 with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module. This 1/8th of a second chronograph has a power reserve of 42 hours and is COSC certified.
Top Time Shelby Cobra
Coming in at 40mm with a height of 13.30mm, the Top Time Shelby Cobra is the smallest of the trio. Designed by Le Mans winner Carroll Shelby in the early 1960s, the Shelby Cobra combined a British chassis design with an American big-block engine. With its bright blue dial and white tachymetre scale with red and blue markings from 200 to 800, the Shelby Cobra has two white sub-dials at 3 and 9 o’clock (bi-compax layout) with the cobra logo at 6 o’clock.
The central chronograph seconds hand is red, and the hour and minute hands are treated with Super-LumiNova. Like the Corvette and Mustang, the Shelby Cobra is fitted with a COSC-certified Breitling calibre 41 (also ETA based with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module), an automatic 1/4th of a second chronograph with a power reserve of 42 hours.

The “Deus” is by far the most attractive piece out of the entire Top Time series.
