A new green version of the BR-03, with a more refined and cleaner dial.
The BR-03 collection by Bell & Ross has been around for nearly two decades, and by now, its square case with a round dial is one of the most recognisable designs out there. Originally launched in 2006 as a 42mm alternative to the larger 46mm BR-01, the collection was updated in 2023 with a slightly slimmer 41mm case and a thinner profile overall. Since then, we have seen a steady stream of variations, including models like the Blue Steel, Copper, and White Steel-and-Gold, and the latest is this new BR-03 Green Steel.
As the name suggests, the focus here is on the dial. The BR-03 Green Steel comes in a sunray green finish with a darker gradient towards the edges, coated with glossy lacquer, which gives it a bit more depth depending on how the light hits it. On this latest BR-03, the green looks chic and adds a fresh look to an otherwise familiar design.
What really sets this version apart, however, is the layout. Unlike most BR-03 models, the BR-03 Green Steel does away with the minute track entirely. Instead, it uses applied numerals and “baignoire-style” hour markers, which results in a cleaner, less technical look. The hands and markers are filled with white Super-LumiNova X1, giving out a green glow, so legibility remains strong both day and night.
The case stays unchanged. It measures 41mm across and 9.65mm thick, made of stainless steel with a mix of brushed and polished finishes. You still see the four screws at the corners, and water-resistance is rated at 100 metres. A sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating sits on top.
Inside is the automatic BR-CAL.302-1 movement, a Sellita SW300 base running at 28,800 vibrations/hour and offering a 54-hour power reserve. Functions are straightforward, with hours, minutes, seconds, and a date display. The watch is delivered on a black box calfskin leather strap, with an additional black synthetic fabric strap, both secured by a steel pin buckle.
