Bell & Ross BR-03 Diver Black Bronze
Surprisingly, this obvious combination of materials and colours is totally new to the series.
Bronze is not a stranger to Bell & Ross dive watches. Between 2018 and the early 2020s, the BR-03-92 Diver appeared in bronze with black, brown, red, green, and white dials, each emphasising warmth and colour. On these, bezels were either bronze or colour-matched, all were limited to 999 pieces, and some are no longer available. What never existed, however, was the most obvious and arguably most coherent pairing: bronze with black on both dial and bezel. With the new BR-03 Diver Black Bronze, Bell & Ross completes that missing chapter by applying the restrained, almost archetypal combination of materials and colours to its latest-generation BR-03 Diver, introduced in 2024.
The new BR-03 Diver edition case is made from CuSn8 bronze (92% copper, 8% tin), a marine-grade alloy used for nautical hardware and underwater exploration, and measures 42mm by 42mm and 12.3mm thick. Satin-brushed surfaces dominate, polished accents add contrast, and the material is allowed to evolve naturally. The unidirectional bezel is also made in bronze and, for this new version, features a polished black ceramic insert graduated to 60 minutes. The bezel markings are filled with Super-LumiNova X1, ensuring clear dive time readings underwater. The BR-03 Diver Black Bronze complies fully with ISO 6425 standards and offers a water-resistance of 300m. The construction includes a screw-down crown with protective guards, a solid steel screw-down caseback, and a thick sapphire crystal with AR coating.
The dial design is quite sober. The glossy black lacquered base provides a nice contrast to the warm bronze case. The applied “baignoire-style” indices and skeletonised hour and minute hands are treated with white Super-LumiNova X1, emitting a green glow for optimal legibility in low light. The date window is placed between 4 and 5 o’clock, consistent with the rest of the current BR-03 Diver family.
Powering the watch is the BR-CAL.302-1, an automatic movement based on the Sellita SW300-1, an alternative to the ETA 2892. Beating at 28,800 vibrations/hour, it offers a comfortable 54-hour power reserve.
Delivered with both a black rubber strap for diving and a black ultra-resistant synthetic canvas strap for daily wear, the BR-03 Diver Black Bronze is priced at EUR 5,300 and is a limited edition of 999 pieces. For more information, please visit www.bellross.com.
