Armin Strom Dual Time GMT Resonance Rose Gold
Subtle luxurious warmth for one of contemporary watchmaking’s most original complications.
Armin Strom methodically expands its Dual Time GMT Resonance series. One of the most technically and visually distinctive travel watches on the market was first presented in white gold as the Dual Time GMT Resonance First Edition. Later came a darker, more contemporary stainless steel Black Edition, which is now back with a new, warmer, and more luxurious look. The latest Dual Time GMT Resonance is housed in an 18k rose gold case, offering a new look of the same underlying concept rather than a technical reinvention.
The fundamentals remain unchanged. The case keeps the proportions that set this generation apart from earlier resonance experiments by the brand: 39mm in diameter, just 9.05mm thick and 44.5mm lug-to-lug. In rose gold, the polished surfaces and sharp bevels take on a softer character, while the signature features remain: the bezel lip at 6 o’clock, twin crowns at 4 and 8 o’clock for independent setting of each time zone, and sapphire crystals on both sides with AR treatment. Water-resistance is 50m.
On the dial side, the design is instantly recognisable but visually different. The two time displays are in black gold–coloured grenage, framed by black azurage chapter rings and with engraved and mirror-polished day/night indicators at 6 o’clock of each dial. Applied rose gold–coloured indices and matching polished hands reinforce the warmer feel. The upper part has the two balance wheels oscillating in full view, linked by Armin Strom’s resonance clutch spring. At the bottom, the ratchet mechanism sits between the barrels.
Powering the watch is the manufacture calibre ARF22, a manual-winding movement developed entirely in-house. We have described the mechanics in detail in our earlier reviews of the model and in this in-depth video; suffice it to note that the calibre employs two independent gear trains and regulating systems, synchronised through resonance, operating at 25,200 vibrations/hour (3.5Hz) with a 42-hour power reserve. The movement’s finishing is exemplary on both sides, and, as with all Armin Strom watches, it is assembled twice to ensure precision and finishing quality.
The Dual Time GMT Resonance Rose Gold is worn on an anthracite alligator leather strap, closed with a rose gold pin buckle. This version is limited to 50 pieces, priced at CHF 115,000. More information at arminstrom.com.
