The New Anton Suhanov Flamingo, A “Flaming Balance” Wristwatch
An in-house calibre with a luminous regulating organ, brought to the forefront.
Independent watchmaker Anton Suhanov, member of the AHCI, presents the Flamingo, a debut of his “flaming balance” concept in a wristwatch equipped with a fully in-house calibre. Known for complex clocks, including multi-axis tourbillons and the award-winning St Petersburg Easter Egg Tourbillon Clock (Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2025), but also experimenting with wristwatches with models such as the Chronotope and Racer, Suhanov now brings one of his inventions to the wrist. The Flamingo focuses on making the regulating organ not only visible but central to the design and experience.
The Anton Suhanov Flamingo is housed in a 42mm brushed and polished stainless steel case, 11.5mm thick. The profile is relatively restrained considering the architecture, with a domed sapphire crystal on the front and a sapphire caseback secured by six three-point screws. The crown is decorated with ruby elements.
The sandblasted and brushed dial in rhodium and dark ruthenium-treated brass is three-dimensional and structured, with the large balance wheel positioned at the top. Measuring 15.7mm in diameter, it operates at 18,000 vibrations/hour and features three luminescent inserts. In low light, these form a continuous glowing ring, “flaming”. Time is displayed off-centre on the dedicated dial, with hours and minutes separated from the rest of the indications, but at 6 o’clock, it incorporates a distinctive non-linear power reserve display that accelerates during the final 12 hours, offering clearer feedback on remaining autonomy. Small seconds are placed at 2 o’clock, and a 24-hour indicator sits at 10 o’clock. Observatory-style hands are used throughout, each set with ruby elements.
The Flamingo is powered by the in-house hand-wound calibre Su26.1L, developed over four years. The movement features twin barrels delivering an 84-hour power reserve. The architecture is open and deliberate, with a Y-shaped bridge referencing St Petersburg. Finishing includes perlage, Côtes de Genève, with hand-polished internal angles.
The Anton Suhanov Flamingo Wristwatch is worn on a grey alligator leather strap and a custom stainless steel pin buckle shaped like the balance bridge. The Flamingo is produced in a limited edition of 38 pieces; the price is upon request. For more information, please visit Anton-Suhanov.com.
