Montblanc Grand Tourbillon Heures Mysterieuses

| By Frank Geelen | 1 min read |

To celebrate the 150th birthday of Minerva, Montblanc now comes with the Grand Tourbillon Heures Mysterieuses. Montblanc uses Minerva movements for it’s mechanical Collection Villeret 1858. The movements build but Minerva are of great beauty. Take a look at Mont Blanc’s website to see more of this line.
Montblanc now comes with another beautiful watch in the Collection Villeret 1858, the Grand Tourbillon Heures Mysterieuses.

I just really like the dial, the case and the tourbillon case…. and not to forget the “Heures Mysterieuses”. The hands are painted on two layers of crystal so they appear to be floating in the air.

I still find it hard to take Montblanc serious as a player in the high end watch industry or Haute Horlogerie. But with the Collection Villeret and especially this Grand Tourbillon Heures Mysterieuses you just have to accept they make incredibly beautiful watches. The design is just perfect and the movement and complication are just amazing. Although i still see them as one of the most prestigious names for writing instruments, especially fountain pens, they also have become of the a very impressive name in the Haute Horlogerie.

  1. This watch is not my cup of tea at all,
The oddly-shaped case is not very attractive and not new at all.
One of the famous independents introduced that allready and so are the Mysterious hands,
why borrowed Montblanc this concept from Cartier and it can be found in the Santos Mysterieuse
    and clocks from the past.
IMHO Montblanc is on the right track with it’s collection of watches,
but this model is not a + for their imago.

  2. Thanx for your comments, Geo. You’re right about the case shap, this is nothing new and also the mystery dial is not new. But you know how it goes with watch design 😉
I must admit that i forgot to mention one thing i don’t like about it… the size. For a watch that looks like a complicated dress watch it’s just way too big IMHO.
