Platinum Editions of the Parmigiani Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante, Minute Rattrapante and Chronographe Mystérieux
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Parmigiani’s magical on-demand complications are feted in noble platinum.
Parmigiani Fleurier marks its thirty years of independent watchmaking with a platinum trilogy of mechanically sophisticated models that offer on-demand complications. Reflecting the collection’s spirit of understated elegance, the complications appear almost magically when required and then disappear to restore the dial’s visual purity. Crafted from head to toe in luxurious 950 platinum, the trilogy exhibits the signature features of the Tonda PF collection, with knurled bezels and integrated bracelets, now paired with sandblasted platinum dials to deliver a unified, monochromatic presence. The anniversary Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante, Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante and Tonda PF Chronographe Mystérieux are limited editions of 30 pieces each, available individually or as a set of three.
Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante
An original and deceptively simple interpretation of a dual-time watch, the GMT Rattrapante relies on two superimposed hour hands: the white gold handset indicates local time and the single 18k rose gold hand displays home time. When you no longer need to track two separate time zones, push the rose gold button inside the crown and watch how the local time hand “catches up” (rattraper) to hide the rose gold hand, restoring the dial to its pristine state as an elegant two-hand watch. Reinterpreted in heavyweight platinum, including the non-reflective sandblasted dial, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more subtle and stylish travel companion. However, you might have to upgrade to first class with its retail price of CHF 91,000.
Quick facts: 40mm x 10.7mm – 950 platinum – crown with gold pusher to activate GMT hand, pusher on case flank to advance local hour hand – sapphire crystal front and back – 60m water-resistance – sandblasted platinum dial, 18k gold indices and skeletonised hands (local time), 18k rose gold hand (second time zone) – calibre PF051 – automatic with gold micro-rotor – 21,600vph (3Hz) – 48h power reserve – integrated platinum bracelet – ref. PFC905-2020002-200182 – CHF 91,000
Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante
Also featuring two superimposed hands, this ingenious model, unveiled in 2023, incorporates the countdown feature of a graduated diving bezel into the movement, represented by a hidden rose gold minute hand that pops out on demand. Using the teardrop pushers on the case, you can advance the hand in 5- or 1-minute increments. Once the timing activities are completed, the rose gold pusher in the crown triggers a mechanism that snaps the rose gold hand back beneath the main white gold minute hand, making it disappear. Subtle, intuitive and in line with Parmigiani’s philosophy of discretion, the platinum edition retails for CHF 93,000.
Quick facts: 40mm x 10.7mm – 950 platinum – crown with gold pusher to activate minute countdown hand — sapphire crystal front and back – 60m water-resistance – sandblasted platinum dial, 18k gold indices and skeletonised hands, 18k rose gold minute countdown hand – calibre PF052 – automatic with gold micro-rotor – 21,600vph (3Hz) – 48h power reserve – integrated platinum bracelet – ref. Tonda PF Chronographe Mystérieux
The most sophisticated member of the “hidden complications” trilogy, this on-demand flyback chronograph plays a magical game of hide-and-seek. Conceived exclusively for this watch, the PF053 calibre powers three orchestrated sequences via the monopusher, as the three hands, formerly indicating civil time, reset to zero and assume chronograph duties while two rose gold hands emerge from hiding to indicate the time. With no sub-dials to clutter the scenery, a second press freezes the three hands to indicate elapsed hours, minutes and seconds, while a third press retracts the chronograph function, hides the rose gold hands and restores the dial to its original purity. Interestingly, the most complex member of the trilogy also boasts the highest water resistance and longest power reserve. Revisited in a majestic platinum suit, this mysterious chronograph retails for CHF 99,600.
Quick facts: 40mm x 13mm – 950 platinum – monopusher on case flank at 7:30 – sapphire crystal front and back – 100m water-resistance – sandblasted platinum dial, 18k gold indices – 5 hands – calibre PF053 – automatic with integrated monopusher column-wheel chronograph – 28,800vph (4Hz) – 60h power reserve – integrated platinum bracelet – ref.
