Audemars Piguet added a time-and-date 38mm Code 11.59 watch to the collection in 2023, a more compact, slimmer, and redesigned version of the original series launched in 2019. The first 38mm models came with stamped dials featuring a signature ripple pattern in light blue, “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50”, green and black, in rose gold cases. Gem-set dial editions (2024) and a natural turquoise dial white-gold version (2026) followed. Now the brand offers two more 38mm versions of the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Selfwinding, presented in 18-carat yellow and pink gold, defined by gold obsidian and black onyx, two materials with very different visual personalities.

One new reference pairs an 18-carat yellow-gold case with a natural gold-obsidian dial. Formed through volcanic activity, obsidian is known for its glass-like reflective surface and, in this variety, the mineral inclusions that produce tiny golden reflections. Audemars Piguet adds a sunburst motif to the stone, bringing out its texture. Here, the dial features gold-toned hour markers in pink gold, yellow-gold hands filled with luminescent material, and a shimmering brown inner bezel.

The second watch is more graphic. Its pink gold case surrounds a black inner bezel and a natural black onyx dial, mirror-polished to reveal the stone’s deep, uniform appearance. The hour markers are made from 13 baguette-cut diamonds (double at 12 o’clock), totalling approximately 0.37 carats. The pink gold hands are filled with luminescent material. Both references omit the date indication found on regular 38mm Code 11.59 references. The new watches share the 38mm Code 11.59 case construction, with its double-curved sapphire crystal and sapphire caseback, both treated with anti-reflective coating. The cases measure 9.6mm thick and are water-resistant to 30m.

These new Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Selfwinding watches are powered by the automatic Calibre 5909, an AP 5900 Vaucher-based movement, measuring 26.2mm in diameter and 3.9mm thick, comprising 174 components and 29 jewels. This calibre operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour and offers a power reserve of 60 hours.

The yellow gold and gold obsidian dial version is worn on a black alligator strap with a subtle sheen that contrasts with the warm tones of the case and dial. The pink gold and obsidian dial reference is worn on a glossy black alligator strap; both are closed with a pin buckle matching the case material. The yellow gold obsidian model is priced at CHF 45,500, while the pink gold onyx version costs CHF 54,100, including taxes. For more, please visit audemarspiguet.com.
