The New Rolex GMT Master II 126710GRNR in Steel with Grey-Black Bezel

A monochromatic take on the GMT master, still with two-tone bezel.

While everybody was expected a Coke (black and red) version of the GMT Master II to be released this year, and most probably in white gold, Rolex has decided to expand (important word) its steel range with a new monochromatic tone, using the recently released grey-and-black bezel found last year in the yellow gold or steel-and-gold models. Surprisingly, many were expecting the Batman/Batgirl and Pepsi to be discontinued too, however, they are still listed on the brand’s website (we’ll try to know more…) For now, let’s discover the new “Wayne GMT” or Rolex GMT Master II 126710GRNR in Oystersteel with a two-tone, grey and black Cerachrom bezel.

Following the Destro model in 2022 and the black-and-grey watches of last year, either in yellow Rolesor or 18k yellow gold, Rolex is once again expanding its traveller’s collection with a new Oystersteel edition. An elegant, restrained and highly classic take, it doesn’t bring much more than new colors to the table… but the 126710 is a great watch that features almost all of the brand’s technologies.

Available in two versions (Jubilee or Oyster), the new 126710GRNR is classic GMT on all sides. The case, identical to previous versions, is 40mm in diameter and 11.9mm in height. The Triplock crown is found on the right side (the normal way) and together with the solid steel screwed back, guarantees a 100m water-resistance. On top is an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. What matters is the rotating bezel with its grey-and-black ceramic insert, creating an soft, discreet look and an efficient canvas to display the recessed 24-hour scale with numerals coated in platinum thanks to PVD process.

As for the dial, the GMT Master II reference 126710GRNR is using the traditional glossy black lacquered dial of the collection, with applied 18k white gold markers and hands, using the Chromalight display. What changes is the comeback of the green GMT hand and the green GMT Master II mention, a node to the long-gone black bezel reference LB, which features this colour as the only touch of originality.

Inside the case, no surprises. We have the in-house, Superlative Chronometer and automatic calibre 3285. A true GMT movement, it runs at 4Hz with a Chronergy escapement and stores up to 70 hours of power reserve. All functions, including the date and the traveling complication, are adjusted by the crown and the movement is given for an accuracy range of -2/+2 seconds a day.

This new steel GMT Master II “Wayne” is available either on the classic 3-link Oyster bracelet or the more elegant, slightly more retro Jubilee bracelet. Both are closed by a Oysterlock folding safety clasp with Easylink comfort extension.

Available from the permanent collection, the new steel, black-and-grey Rolex GMT Master II 126710GRNR references are priced at EUR 11,000 on Oyster bracelet and EUR 11,200 on Jubilee bracelet. For more details, please visit Rolex.com.
