The New Union Glashütte Belisar Chronograph Speedster Limited Edition 2025
Italian cockpit design meets Saxon chronometry in a bold, blue-grey and yellow limited edition.
Founded in 1893 and rooted in the Saxon cradle of German watchmaking, Union Glashütte has never shied away from character. The brand´s Belisar series is famous for its automotive-inspired editions, and needless to say, the design cues of the Speedster editions have always been taken from a German car. This year, for the first time, the new Belisar Chronograph Speedster Limited Edition 2025 draws directly from a rare Italian rally car of the 1980s (the Lancia Delta Integrale, to be precise), translating its hybrid analogue/digital cockpit aesthetic into a punchy blue-grey and yellow chronograph that looks like it belongs on a night stage of the race.
The new Union Glashütte Speedster 2025 keeps the Belisar Chronograph’s architecture, meaning large and purposeful (and unfortunately, not the proportions of the new 40mm version). It translates into a 44mm stainless steel 316L case, a confident 15.01mm height and 52.99mm lug-to-lug span, with brushed and polished surfaces framing signature screwed case flanks. A domed sapphire crystal with AR on both sides sets the vintage tone, while a sapphire back shows the movement. The crown is large, and a corrector at 10 o’clock lets you adjust the date quickly, which is pretty handy when the car crosses time zones. Water-resistance is 100m.
The dial is inspired by the 1980s Lancia Delta Integrale’s cockpit: matte blue-grey ground, punchy yellow Arabic numerals and crosshair, and a black tachymeter scale for quick speed math. In a neat period nod, the dial trades classic hour numerals for 5-second intervals, putting measurement front and centre. Black PVD hands (with Super-LumiNova) deliver contrast, while yellow accents amplify legibility and spectacle. The look is modern, sporty and very eye-catching.
The watch is powered by the Union’s UNG-27.S1, an automatic chronograph calibre based on a Valjoux 7750 architecture, with a silicon balance spring for enhanced resistance to magnetism and temperature shifts. Expect a robust 65-hour power reserve and all the functionality you want from a daily chrono: central seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour counters, small seconds, date (with stop-seconds for precise setting).
The Speedster is worn on a textured blue-grey rubber strap; an additional black calfskin strap with a yellow underside is provided for a dressier pit-lane look. The rubber closes via a pin buckle; the leather uses a double-fold clasp with twin push-buttons. The 2005 edition is limited to 388, priced at EUR 3,300.
