The Union Glashütte 1893 Johannes Dürrstein Anniversary Editions
Two elegant tributes to the founder’s vision of accessible watchmaking in Glashütte.
Celebrating the 180th anniversary of its founder, Union Glashütte launches a pair of new 1893 Johannes Dürrstein Anniversary Editions, offered as the Large Second 41mm and Small Second 34mm references, capturing the brand’s enduring approach: fine Saxon craftsmanship and design excellence made accessible.
The 1893 collection takes its name from the year Dürrstein established the “Union Uhrenfabrik”, a company built on his belief that high-quality watches should be attainable to a broader audience. These new anniversary models follow the design language introduced with the 175th Anniversary Editions (then including a regulator model), a style defined by surface textures and subtle contrasts.
Both new 1893 Johannes Dürrstein Anniversary watches share the same detailed dials. A taupe-toned surface with a fine-grained texture surrounds a matte, sandblasted inner section, while a silvered, polished rings add subtle depth and delineation. The heat-blued hands recall Glashütte’s traditional finishing techniques.
The Large Second 41mm reinterprets a layout rooted in 19th-century Glashütte pocket watches, featuring off-centred hours and minutes on the left and a prominent large seconds display on the right. The Small Second 34mm, created as its feminine counterpart, gracefully translates this concept with simplicity, featuring a classic subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and maintaining the same dial finishing.
The models are housed in 316L stainless steel cases with softly rounded contours and domed sapphire crystals, with an anti-reflective coating on both sides. The Large Second measures 41mm across and 11.8mm thick, is 100m water-resistant, while the Small Second offers a refined 34mm by 9.6mm profile and is water-resistant to 50m. Each features a sapphire caseback, revealing the automatic Union calibres within, movements derived from the ETA 2899 and ETA 2895-2 architectures, respectively. Both provide a 42-hour power reserve, a stop-seconds mechanism, and a date display, with decorative Glashütte-style finishing including perlage, blued screws, and striping.
The new Union Glashütte 1893 Johannes Dürrstein Anniversary Edition watches are worn on a black calfskin leather strap, secured with a double-fold clasp featuring push-buttons for added security. Both editions are limited to 99 pieces each, available individually or as a collector’s boxed set pairing both models. Prices are set at EUR 1,960 for the Large Second and EUR 1,780 for the Small Second. For more information, please consult union-glashuette-com.

Very nice, like both very much. The 34mm Model would be perfect for my tiny wrists. Also the price is fair.
