Unimatic is a Milan-based brand, founded in 2015. It has quickly built a reputation for contemporary tool watches that distil military and field watch DNA into bold, modern forms. The brand’s watches are offered in short production runs, with designs that are rooted in minimalism and focus on legibility, durability, and proportion. The recent Modello Uno Prodiver series, collaborations with Massena Lab, the Modello Quattro in cooperation with Morgan and the latest Unimatic Modello Quattro U4-BLB, presented with a clever tactical look where luminous depth and symmetry take centre stage, all play by these rules.

The very fresh Unimatic Modello Quattro U4-BLB features a 40mm black DLC-coated stainless steel case with a brushed finish, measuring 13.7mm thick and 49mm lug-to-lug. Robust and balanced on the wrist, the case construction includes drilled lugs for easy strap changes, a monoblock fixed bezel, and an oversized 8mm screw-down crown, protected by guards. The dial is protected by a flat 2.8mm sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inner side, ensuring clarity without reflections. Even if it’s not a proper dive watch (no rotating bezel), the case is 300m water resistant.

The matte black sandwich dial features cut-out long indexes that reveal a layer of Super-LumiNova BG W9. A luminous seconds track runs the dial’s periphery. The hour and minutes hands are finished in matte black with luminous inlays, while a lollipop seconds hand appears all-black. A date window at six o’clock integrates seamlessly into the layout’s symmetry, underscoring the design’s utility.

The Unimatic Modello Quattro U4-BLB employs the automatic NH35A calibre, chosen for its robustness and practicality. It beats at 21,600 vph, features hacking seconds and manual winding, and delivers a 41-hour power reserve. Accuracy is rated between –20/+40 seconds per day.

The watch is worn on a heavy-duty black nylon NATO strap with brushed black DLC stainless steel hardware. Each watch is numbered, made in Italy, and delivered in a Unimatic tough case with a signed warranty card and unique ID seal.
