Trilobe Releases the Chateau Trente-Deux with a Burgundy dial

Founded by Gautier Massonneau in 2018, Trilobe is a French brand distinguished by its hand-free displays. Instead of traditional hands, Trilobe uses three rotating rings that align with fixed markings to display time in motion.  Last year, Trilobe released the Trente-Deux, a luxury sports watch with the brand’s unconventional display in an elegant steel case with an integrated bracelet. More importantly, the Trente-Deux also marked the debut of the brand’s first manufacture movement, the X-Nihilo. For Geneva Watch Days 2026, Trilobe taps into its French soul with the Château Trente-Deux, with a rich burgundy dial inspired by Burgundy wine.

The name of the collection is taken from the address of Trilobe’s Parisian workshop situated at 32 Avenue de l’Opéra, the site where the automatic X-Nihilo was conceived, designed and assembled. The brand also owns a manufacturing facility outside Paris where 80% of the core structural parts are produced.

The seven-part 39.5mm case, with a thickness of 10.15mm and a 46.18mm lug-to-lug span, features an underlying barrel-shaped case with brushed surfaces and polished bezels, a microblasted and fluted crown and crown guard, and a sloping and fluted bezel with mirror-polished ridges and matte grooves. The depth rating is 50 metres, a little on the low side for a sporty watch. The smooth, integrated bracelet is also well-designed – it took 120 sketches to get right – and its satin-brushed links and mirror-polished central links taper elegantly to the folding clasp.

Featuring the brand’s signature three-lobed display, the novelty here is the attractive wine-coloured dial. Decorated with varied textures, the central area features a vivid sunray motif emanating from the off-centred figure-eight for the minutes and seconds displays. The smaller minutes disc is decorated with a grained finish while the larger seconds indicator is snailed with a Clous de Paris guilloché pattern in the centre. The hours, located on the rotating peripheral chapter ring, are set against a grained background matching the minutes display.

Visible on the reverse, the X-Nihilo automatic movement, with its bold contemporary architecture, is treated with frosted 5N rose gold. Fitted with safety devices to protect the movement from shocks, the X-Nihilo calibre beats at 28,800vph and delivers a 42-hour power reserve.
