Tissot and its Romanian distributor Albini Prassa celebrate the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Franco-Romanian airline company CFRNA (Compagnie Franco-Roumaine de Navigation Aérienne), which was the first to connect Europe and the Asian continent by air. Tribute is paid by launching a limited edition of the Tissot Heritage Navigator, a well-known watch that we’ve covered here, renamed the Săgeata Orientului/East Arrow to mark the occasion.
Founded in 1920, CFRNA was the first operative commercial transcontinental company in the history of aviation. The Săgeata Orientului (or Flèche d’Orient, East Arrow) offered flights from Paris to Istanbul in just one day, via Strasbourg, Prague, Warsaw, Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade and Bucharest. A century later, Tissot and Albini Prassa, its official distributor in Romania, pay tribute to the Săgeata Orientului with a limited edition world time watch featuring a black dial and a city ring with the cities of Paris, Bucharest and Istanbul in red. Other than these new colours, the dial remains identical to former editions with nice polished markers and numerals, and an overall vintage look.
Based on the classic, well-executed and accessible Tissot Heritage Navigator, the Săgeata Orientului edition is presented in a round 43mm stainless steel case with polished and brushed surfaces. It features a fixed polished bezel with 12h scale. The exhibition caseback is decorated with an aeroplane and the caption “Flèche d’Orient”, both transferred on its sapphire crystal. The watch is powered by the tried-and-tested ETA 2893 automatic movement. Its precision is certified by a COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute) certificate.
Limited to 444 individually numbered pieces, this 43mm Tissot Heritage Navigator “Săgeata Orientului” is delivered with two black leather straps (calf and faux-alligator) that can be swapped easily thanks to their quick-release system. It is presented in a special edition box and a travel case, including the limited-edition certificate together with a personalised watchmaker loupe and a special cloth. Last but not least, the watch also comes with a book retracing the history of CFRNA.
The watch is available from Albini Prassa and some of Tissot’s local retailers. Price is set at RON 7,444 (Romanian Leu) or about EUR 1,530 at the time of publishing. For more information, please visit www.tissot.com and www.albiniprassa.com.
