MeisterSinger is of course known for its single-handed approach to mechanical watchmaking, as it has been the core focus of the brand since its inception. To MeisterSinger, it’s not so much the exact minute and second that matters, yet more the moment itself. This more relaxed philosophy on the passage of time is what sets MeisterSinger apart from others. The single-hand display of time is the heart of every MeisterSinger collection, even the ones with additional complexity such as the Perigraph, Bell Hora or Astroscope. The MeisterSinger N°03 collection has always perfectly embodied this concept, with the 40mm version now getting a fresh new look.

Set in a 40mm wide and 10.3mm thin case, the MeisterSinger N°03 doesn’t change much from the outside. We still get a brushed and polished case with sapphire crystals on both sides. We still get a MeisterSinger signed, pull-out crown and a 50m water resistance. And we still get that signature single hand revolving over the dial.

Not just content with a black or ivory base colour only, MeisterSinger has added a ring on the outer perimeter of the dial, indicating the hours with a dot or line and the half hours with a “30”. The timing track used to distinguish the five minutes, quarter, half, and full hour increments come in white or black with cognac details. This colour is also used for the outline of the date window at 6 o’clock. It adds a touch of sophistication to the dial, without compromising the essence of the single-handed display of time. The hour digits and the large needle-like hand comes in white or black, depending on the dial colour.

Inside the N°03 beats the automatic Sellita SW 200 movement. This runs at a rate of 28,800vph and provides you with 38 hours of running time. Seen through the caseback, the movement is decently finished and topped with a MeisterSinger signed rotor. The lack of minutes and seconds hands does not impede the accuracy of the movement by the way.

The MeisterSinger N°03 comes on the brand’s black vegan leather strap with contrasting stitching, secured to the wrist with a signed steel pin buckle. It retails for a reasonable EUR 1,790 and is available from May 2022 onwards.
