The watch to commemorate Depancel's partnership with DAMS Lucas Oil Formula 2 and Formula 3 team.
The connection between Depancel and the automotive world is rather obvious and quite cool. The very name of the brand says it all, being the contraction of vintage French car manufacturers Delage, Panhard and Facel Vega, and even the logo is inspired by the 1954 Facel Vega coat of arms. Then, a quick look at the collection reveals clear inspirations: cases shaped like antique car radiator grills, chronographs with tachymeters and racing colours, and overall a strong connection with anything on wheels. Recently, Depancel announced partnering with DAMS Lucas Oil, a Formula 2 and Formula 3 team, for the 2026 season. And, as you’d expect, it’s now time to discover the watch that celebrates this collaboration.
As you can imagine, the new Serie R01 Depancel x DAMS Lucas Oil Limited Edition is a watch with racing inspirations, clearly visible in the colour scheme used throughout, based on that of the F2 car to race this season. For this first collaborative model, Depancel has elected its Serie R01 collection, with its distinctive shaped case, a square with an arch at 12 o’clock – as said, modelled after radiator grills found in antique cars. Measuring 36mm in width, 43mm in height (lugs excluded, or 50mm in total length) and 12.9mm in thickness, it comes with dynamic edges, bevelled at 6 and 12 o’clock for better ergonomics. Brushed with polished accents, the case also includes straight crown guards on the right side, a commemorative plaque on the left side and a bevelled sapphire crystal on top. Water-resistance is rated at 50m, sufficient for a race-inspired watch.
The dial is where the connection between Depancel and the DAMS Lucas Oil team is the most obvious. The multi-layer dial is PVD-blue coated, with several steps and textures. The outer, upper part of the dial features wide vertical stripes and a first row of applied makers. Then, framed by an angled and circular minutes/seconds track, the centre of the dial is sunray-brushed with several elements – DAMS logo, vertical tricolour stripe – and features two black-framed sub-dials for the calendar indications. The whole assembly is inspired by automotive gauges, along with index markers reminiscent of track markers. Hands and markers are all filled with Super-LumiNova C1.
Under the see-through caseback is a simple yet solid automatic movement, the Miyota 9122 – sharing its architecture with the Calibre 9015. Equipped with calendar indications (date, day and month), this movement runs at a 4Hz frequency and stores about 40 hours of power reserve. It allows to keep the price reasonable.
Finally, Depancel offers the choice between two straps (20mm lug width) for its Serie R01 DAMS Lucas Oil Limited Edition. First is a ventilated blue FKM rubber with a steel pin buckle, for a modern look. Second is a perforated blue bull leather strap, for a more vintage style. Both are equipped with quick-release spring bars.
