Piaget Polo S Automatic Green-and-Gold Limited Edition
An original and colourful take on Piaget's steel sports watch.
Presented in 2016, the Polo S is Piaget’s take on the steel luxury watch. Infused with 1970s vibes, this versatile timepiece is evocative of the category’s icons but also displays a clear lineage with the Piaget Emperador, one of the brand’s most recognizable designs. For 2020, the collection welcomes an attractive version with green dial and rose gold indices, fitted with a steel bracelet.
Besides the steel bracelet, the eye-catching green dial is the main novelty and attraction of this new iteration of the Piaget Polo S. If the colour is not new – as can be seen here – the applied indices, hands and the frame of the date window are now rendered in rose gold. Both original and subtle, this new dial is embossed with the signature striped pattern of the collection. The green surface stands out with beautiful changing colours and striking metallic reflections – thanks to the colour obtained by PVD coating. The contrasting white markings ensure perfect legibility. Just like the hour markers, the indices are fitted with luminescent material and the counterweight of the seconds hands is a stylized Piaget P.
At 42mm in diameter and with ergonomic lugs, the Polo S is relatively compact and seems to wear a bit smaller than its size would suggest. It is a rather thin watch too at 9.4mm and it will easily slide under your cuff. Its design combines a cushion-shaped middle part with a flat bezel. The soft curves and flat surfaces are emphasized by alternating polished and brushed surfaces. Last, it is water-resistant to 100m.
Turning the watch over, the exhibition caseback shows the beautiful automatic calibre 1110P. With dimensions of 25.58mm x 4mm, this movement displays the hours, minutes, central seconds and a date window. It operates at 28,800vph (4Hz) and has a power reserve of 50 hours on two barrels. A stop-seconds mechanism allows you to set the time with precision. The finishes include circular-graining, Geneva stripes, bevelling, sunburst wheels and blued screws. The grey rotor is decorated with circular Côtes de Genève and with the Piaget coat of arms.
As mentioned previously, this new Piaget Polo S is worn on a steel bracelet instead of a green leather strap for the previous green-dial Polo S. The H-link design comes with a uniform width throughout. It alternates between polished and satin-finished surfaces. Last, a safety folding buckle secures the watch to the wrist. The watch is limited to 888 watches and retails for EUR 12,600.

It does look a little old fashioned, understated but really well done. I dont normally like striped dials but this is a bit special.
