As watch journalists, we tend to focus on the two main events during the year: the SIHH in January and the mammoth Baselworld in March. Even if these two fairs are the main events of the year and if they are now opened to the public (partially), they remain mainly professional events, for retailers, photographers and, like us, journalists and bloggers. However, as a collector or passionate, you won’t see much. Smaller, yet highly interesting events exist around the world, and for those who live in Benelux or North of France, there is Passion for Watches, the Brussels’s based watch fair, which will have its 2016 edition from November 18th, 2016 to November 20th, 2016.
As we said, main events such as Baselworld or the SIHH present major novelties, however, they are not organized for final clients. You won’t have access to all the booths and you won’t be able to touch and feel. No worries, as watch brands are aware of this need to experience some wrist-time with their novelties, to share about the brand, to discover the luxurious universe surrounding watchmaking. For that, smaller events exist and one will happen soon, one that will occur in Brussels. So if you’re living in the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium or the north of France, here is a special occasion to discover or re-discover some of the most interesting brands around: Passion for Watches.
First, you’ll be able to see all the novelties introduced at Baselworld and SIHH. Then, it’s also the occasion to see and touch watches that are, for most of us, dream machines (think Lange, Breguet or Vacheron Constantin). Finally, some of the brands will exhibit watchmakers and “métiers d’art”, things that you’ll probably don’t see easily, except in visiting a manufacture. Some watchmaking masterclasses and ateliers will also be available. Finally, 2 special expositions will be displayed: one for the 225th anniversary of Girard-Perregaux and one with Museum watches from IWC.
Close to 30 brands will be exposing at Passion for Watches, including sports-oriented brands like Tudor or Oris, classical watches from Montblanc or Jaeger-Lecoultre and finally, some haute-horlogerie brands like Lange, Breguet, Vacheron Constantin or Parmigiani. A wide selection, for all budgets and all types of collectors.
Passion for Watches will be opened to the public from November 18th, 2016 to November 20th, 2016 and will take place at “Cercle de Lorraine 6, Place Poelaert 1000 Bruxelles, Belgium”. More details on passionforwatches.be.
