Parmigiani Fleurier’s luxury sports watch collection, the Tonda PF, got off to a flying start with the release of not one but two chronographs in its inaugural 2021 lineup. Led by the refined Split Seconds in platinum and the high-frequency COSC-certified integrated manufacture movement powering the steel Tonda PF Chronograph, the collection may be understated in appearance, but its movements are in a class of their own – a point underscored by the release of the magical Chronograph Mystérieux unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2026. The latest model to join the family is a rose gold version of the Tonda PF Chronograph in the more compact 40mm case size, paired with a gorgeous Mineral Blue dial.

Sharing the same PF070 movement as the larger 42mm Tonda PF Chronograph, the 40mm no-date reference debuted in 2025 in steel. Now crafted in 18k rose gold, the watch exudes a warmer and more luxurious aura. Upholding all the design features that characterise the Tonda PF family, the case features a knurled bezel, elegant teardrop-shaped pushers and lugs and a screw-down crown to ensure 100m water-resistance. The polished crown, pushers and external links of the bracelet contrast with the satin-brushed finishes on the case flanks and internal links of the integrated bracelet. Marginally thicker than the 42mm model, the 12.72mm case height is not what we would classify as “ultra-thin”. However, it is restrained enough to maintain this model’s compact proportions.

First seen on the steel model, the Mineral Blue dial reflects Parmigiani’s gift for nuanced colours. Bringing the surface to life, the hand-guilloché barleycorn pattern subtly plays with the light. With no date window to clutter the view, the slightly recessed chronograph counters at 9 and 3 o’clock and the small seconds at 6 o’clock stand out against the grain d’orge guilloché background with their smooth sandblasted rings and white inscriptions. In keeping with its understated yet refined personality, there is no trace of luminescent material. The delta-shaped openworked hands and hand-applied indices are crafted in rose gold; the chronograph hands and the small seconds hand are rose gold-plated steel.

While the dial transmits serenity and refinement, the integrated automatic in-house chronograph calibre beats at a high frequency of 5Hz to deliver precision one-tenth-of-a-second timings. COSC chronometer-certified, the slim 6.95mm movement is equipped with a column wheel and vertical clutch to ensure smooth chronograph engagement, and the barrel stores a robust 65-hour power reserve. Finishes like the hand-bevelled edges and polished and sandblasted 22k rose gold rotor can be admired through the sapphire glass on the caseback.

The Tonda PF Chronograph in rose gold retails for CHF 70,000 or EUR 79,000, more than double the price of the steel edition. More information at parmigiani.com.
