An Overview of all the New Watches for the Comeback of Favre Leuba
The entire line-up to revive the brand, here and up close.
As we recently discussed with Patrik Hoffmann, long-established brand Favre-Leuba is making a comeback with ambitious plans. To revive one of the oldest names in the watch industry, Hoffmann aims to position the brand within its historical price segment (between CHF 2,000 and 4,500), offering affordable yet high-value watches with a strong vintage inspiration – specifically from the 1960s, a period when the brand’s timepieces were considered true instruments of exploration and known for their robustness and functionality. To kick off this new chapter, the brand is unveiling 22 references across three distinct collections – Deep Blue, Sea Sky and Chief. Here’s a closer look.
Deep Blue Revival
The Deep Blue collection is a tribute to one of the brand’s iconic dive watches. Originally introduced in 1964, the Deep Blue quickly became renowned for its rugged design and solid water resistance of up to 200 meters.
A MONOCHROME favourite, the Deep Blue Revival is a faithful yet modernized reissue of the classic model. The stainless-steel case retains the original 39mm diameter, upgraded with a 300m water resistance. The unidirectional bezel is now fitted with a sapphire insert printed on the back. The sunray-finished grey crosshair dial, features a round-date window and baton-shaped markers. It is accented with egg-shell coloured Super-LumiNova that evokes the vintage radium glow, adding a nostalgic touch to the design.
Underneath the solid case back is the automatic La Joux-Perret G100. If this solid, pragmatic movement features similar dimensions as the 2824 (25.60mm x 4.45mm), it is not a clone and comes with a different design. In particular, its 68-hour power reserve is a real plus. The model comes on a 5-link steel bracelet.
Quick Facts – steel case – 39mm x 12.75mm – sapphire glass box – automatic winding La Joux-Perret G100 calibre – 4Hz – 68-hour power reserve – 300m water resistance – 5-link steel bracelet – CHF 2,250
Deep Blue Renaissance
This modernized take on the Deep Blue (hence the name Renaissance) comes in a slightly larger diameter at 40mm. The enlarged screw-down crown ensures a 300m water resistance. The unidirectional bezel is made of ceramic. The Deep Blue Renaissance’s dial comes in three colours: deep blue, intense green, and anthracite grey.
The Favre Leuba Deep Blue Renaissance is also powered by the automatic LJP G100. Here, it is visible via the exhibition case back. It comes in a “soigné” grade and its finishes include diamond-cut bevels, blued screws and Côtes de Genève. The open-worked gold-coloured oscillating weight also features stripes and adds an extra touch of luxury. The Deep Blue Renaissance is available with a rubber strap or a redesigned 3-link steel bracelet.
Quick Facts – steel case – 40mm x 12.69mm – sapphire glass box, sapphire back– automatic winding La Joux-Perret G100 calibre – 4Hz – 68-hour power reserve – 300m water resistance – CHF 2,200 on strap, CHF 2,300 on bracelet
Sea Sky Chronograph
The Favre Leuba Sea Sky is a cool no-nonsense vintage-inspired chronograph with tachymeter and telemeter scales. Its 40mm 316L steel case has pump-style pushers. The notched unidirectional rotating bezel, in black ceramic and engraved with countdown markers, provides practical functionality. It is water resistant to 100m.
The watch is powered by the automatic winding La Joux-Perret L112 calibre. This integrated column-wheel chronograph is derived from the 7750 architecture. It ticks at 28,800vph and its power reserve is of 60 hours. The sunburst dial has three contrasting white counters with a concentric pattern. It is paired with the broad arrow-style hands. The Sea Sky comes in three different dial versions, black, blue or brown with a leather strap in matching colour.
Quick Facts – steel case – 40mm x 15.23mm – double-domed sapphire crystal, sapphire back – automatic winding La Joux-Perret L112 caliber – 4Hz – 60-hour power reserve – 100m water resistance – CHF 3,950
Chief Date
The Chief collection draws its inspiration from a 1970s cushion-shaped chronograph. This design has been reimagined to emphasize a modern sport-chic aesthetic. The lugs, which are influenced by the original model, now feature more rounded lines, while the outer ovoid shape of the case highlights both compactness and fluidity.
The Date version comes in a 40mm case housing there again the automatic La Joux-Perret G100 that can be seen via the exhibition case back. The textured dial features a stamped tapestry with high-relief hourglasses paired with applied markers, which creates a pleasing sense of depth. It is available in green, black or blue. The Favre Leuba Chief Date is available either on an integrated H-link steel bracelet or on a rubber strap.
Quick Facts – steel case – 40mm x 10.81mm – sapphire crystals front and back – automatic winding La Joux-Perret G100 calibre – 4Hz – 68-hour power reserve – 100m water resistance – CHF 2,300 on strap, CHF 2,375 on bracelet
Chief Chronograph
The chronograph version of the Chief comes in a sleek 41mm case. Available in black, blue or Ice blue, the dial has a bi-compax layout with raised counters and its sunburst finish eschews the tapisserie of the Chief date, probably for enhanced legibility. The tachymeter at its periphery adds a sporty touch.
Turning the watch over, the exhibition case back allows you to discover the automatic L112 (just like for the Sea Sky) – this integrated column-wheel chronograph beats at 4Hz and its power reserve is of 60 hours. Its finishes include Côtes de Genève stripes, blued screws, a circular-grained barrel bridge, and polished steel components. The Favre Leuba Chief Chronograph is available in black, blue or ice blue – either on an H-link steel bracelet or on a rubber strap.
Quick Facts – steel case – 41mm x 14mm – sapphire crystals front and back – automatic winding La Joux-Perret L112 calibre – 4Hz – 60-hour power reserve – 100m water resistance – CHF 4,300 on strap, CHF 4,375 on bracelet
