The Oris Divers Sixty-Five 60th Anniversary Edition

Oris goes back to its roots with a flashback to both the original 1965 model and the 50th Anniversary Divers Sixty-Five watch.

Following the latest Divers Date from late 2024, Oris is looking back at its original dive watch from 1965 and a remake in 2015 with a distinctive dial design and retro vibe. The new Divers Sixty-Five 60th Anniversary Edition is a sequel of sorts to the 2015 50th Anniversary Divers Sixty-Five that became a best-selling series. The two share a lot of aesthetic similarities and it’s a great way to celebrate 60 years of Oris divers, and will surely appeal to vintage-inspired enthusiasts, but we also have some updates to report.

Left: the 2015 Oris Divers Sixty-Five made for the model’s 50th anniversary – Right: a vintage example of Oris’ 1965 dive watch – Below: the new Oris Divers Sixty-Five 60th Anniversary Edition and another vintage example, this time with a different bezel

The stainless steel case is classic Divers Sixty-Five and is 40mm in diameter and 12.8mm in height (lug-to-lug 48mm), up from the original’s 36mm, but the same as in 2015. The bi-directional rotating bezel looks similar between the two, but now a bit narrower, features an uncoated steel frame and trades an inverted triangle at 12 o’clock for just a Super-LumiNova dot. A vintage-looking double-domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal (with its fair share of distortions and reflections) protects the dial and there’s a solid caseback, again similar to 2015. Water resistance is 100 metres (not updated to 200m like in the new Divers Date series) and it comes with a 20mm three-link rivet-style steel bracelet and black leather strap with steel buckle – even though there’s no quick-release system.

The glossy black dial is very similar to the 2015 model, but there are a few changes. Now there’s no date at 6 o’clock and AUTOMATIC under ORIS at 12 o’clock has been replaced with WATERPROOF, mimicking the 1965 model. The print above 6 o’clock now reflects the 1965 model as well, albeit with a higher jewel count (simply because the movement isn’t the same). The indices and distinctive oversized Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock are printed with Old Radium Super-LumiNova, nigh-identical to both of the older models in appearance. The hour, minute and lollipop seconds hands have matching lume inserts.

Powering the 60th Anniversary Edition is the Oris 733, based on the Sellita SW200-1 automatic (same as in 2015, still a clone of the ETA 2824-2). It has 26 jewels, beats at 28,800vph (4Hz) and comes with a 38-hour power reserve. Functions include central hours, minutes, hacking seconds and a date that isn’t utilized here.

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five 60th Anniversary Edition is available to order from the Oris website at CHF 2,250, which is actually a bit less than the recent Divers Date – the latter is obviously more technically advanced. For more information, please visit Oris.ch.

  1. This is still wonderful, I’m glad they brought it back!
Much more character than the (still very nice) standard line imo.
