The New Ulysse Nardin Diver Hammerhead Shark Limited Edition

Form, fit and strong identity for UN’s latest diver model.

Few brands are as deeply embedded in maritime chronometry as Ulysse Nardin. With nearly 180 years of watchmaking heritage, the brand’s ties to all things nautical find expression in the more classical Marine collection and the brazenly contemporary Diver family. Following the 2018 relaunch of the Diver Chronometer 44mm series and a series of Diver Net limited editions – the Vendée Globe springs to mind as one of the most recent – the new Diver Hammerhead Shark represents the latest expansion of that legacy, with modern, technical design.

Measuring 44mm in diameter and 14.81mm thick, the Diver Hammerhead Shark has substantial wrist presence, yet its titanium construction ensures it remains lightweight and comfortable. The case is finished with a blue PVD coating, giving it a sleek, modern aesthetic and enhancing corrosion resistance. A uni-directional rotating bezel with a rubberised blue insert for excellent grip and tactile feedback features a 60-minute dive scale with the collection’s signature red “0” marker at the top position. The screw-down crown is protected by red guards that add functional protection and a dynamic visual accent. The caseback is engraved with a hammerhead shark motif and has red detailing that notes the model number, limited-edition status, and 300m water-resistance rating.

The finely sandblasted blue dial features the Diver collection’s now-signature “X” motif, rendered here in red and blue. Broad, luminous indices and hands, hallmarks of the Diver series, enhance overall legibility in any environment. At 6 o’clock, a small seconds subdial with an integrated round date aperture features a luminescent running seconds hand outlined in red, offering a clear visual cue that the movement is active. At 12 o’clock, a lumed power reserve indicator instantly reads the remaining autonomy.

Powering the Diver Hammerhead Shark is Ulysse Nardin’s in-house UN-118 calibre, an automatic movement that fuses traditional mechanical engineering with the brand’s pioneering silicon technology. The movement features a proprietary DiamonSil escapement and a silicon balance spring, resulting in a construction that is antimagnetic, lubrication-free, and durable over time. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the UN-118 delivers a 60-hour power reserve and includes a forward and backwards date corrector.

The watch comes fitted with a blue rubber strap; the red hammerhead shark image reinforces the model’s identity, complemented by a single blue PVD titanium link engraved with the Ulysse Nardin logo. On the reverse side, the 1% for the Planet logo is engraved – a reminder of the brand’s environmental commitment: one per cent of annual sales from this model will be donated to 1% for the Planet, supporting its partner, Shark Trust, a UK-based non-profit dedicated to the conservation of sharks worldwide.

A blue PVD titanium tang buckle secures the strap; a secondary strap in blue fabric with red edging and a Velcro fastening system is also included. The Ulysse Nardin Diver Hammerhead Shark is limited to 300 pieces and priced at CHF 11,500, EUR 12,300, or USD 12,100 (VAT excluded for U.S. pricing). For more details, visit ulysse-nardin.com.
