Following two entirely digital editions of what is today the only major watch fair of the industry, we recently informed you that Watches & Wonders Geneva will be back to a physical event for its 2022 edition. For us an important piece of news, this means that we’ll be able to see, touch and feel watches in the metal again, and thus we’ll be able to bring you an even more in-depth report on all the novelties presented at what is, today, the only central place for watches since the end of the Basel fair we’ve known in the past. Today, it’s yet some more news regarding Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022 that we’ll share with you, since we have an already rather complete list of participating brands, and with close to 40 exposing watchmakers, from traditional Richemont Group, powerhouses such as Rolex, Patek or Grand Seiko (that’s new), LVMH Group or independent watchmakers, there will be a lot to talk about in March next year.

The next edition of Watches & Wonders Geneva, which is eagerly awaited after two years of being entirely online, is already shaping up for 2022. We know now that the event will be a so-called hybrid format that will mix physical and online experiences – but for us, the first part is far more important, as we’ll be reporting live from Palexpo, where the fair has been located for several years now, when it was still named SIHH. For those who won’t be able to attend, Watches & Wonders’ organisation has planned multiple online events and has created adequate tools, so some will be able to also participate online, depending on the changing context of the pandemic.

Product presentations, new product launches, keynotes, panel discussions and conferences can be followed in Geneva by visitors onsite, but also, for those who are unable to travel, remotely, via the watchesandwonders.com platform. We, at MONOCHROME, will do everything possible to be there on-site.

Also, an important thing that has just been released today, the list of participating brands. And it is long! Since Baselworld doesn’t exist anymore in its historic venue, most brands are now relocating to Geneva. In addition to the long-time exposing Maisons of the Richemont Group, there will be new participants. Think for instance about Grand Seiko, Oris and the brands of the LVMH Group (Hublot, TAG Heuer and Zenith), all participating for the first time in W&W. Also, and even though already participating in the 2021 online edition of Watches & Wonders, Patek Philippe, Rolex, Tudor, Chanel and Chopard will also be exhibiting for the first time in Geneva.

In addition to the established brands, there will also be a rather large list of independent watchmakers, located in the so-called ‘Carré des Horlogers’ with names such as Armin Strom, Berthoud, Gronefeld, Laurent Ferrier or Ressence. On the other hand, some of the historic independent watchmakers – MB&F, Urwerk or Voutilainen – won’t be present in 2022.

We’re all very much looking forward to the comeback of a physical event in Switzerland and we’ll do our best (with what’s possible regarding the sanitary context) to have the full MONOCHROME team present for an in-depth, live report of Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022.
