Jack Mason is a young micro-brand founded in Dallas, Texas, in 2015, and initially made its name in US retail before making a decisive turn towards enthusiast-focused, direct-to-consumer watchmaking. Recent releases have shown fewer fashion cues, more mechanical credibility, and an emphasis on real-world usability. The Strat-o-Timer GMT has been central to that shift. After last year’s Strat-o-Timer GMT Espresso, an accessible dive-styled traveller powered by a true GMT calibre, Jack Mason now introduces the Strat-o-Timer GMT Frontier, a tougher, more restrained and distinctly tool-watch-oriented evolution of the predecessor.

The Frontier retains the wearable proportions of the Strat-o-Timer line. The stainless steel case measures 40mm in diameter, 47mm lug-to-lug and 13mm thick, including the crystal. Brushed surfaces dominate; the case body and bracelet benefit from a hardness coating rated up to 1,200 Vickers, greatly improving scratch resistance. The bidirectional GMT bezel has been redesigned and comes with crisp markings and a sunburst finish that adds just enough visual interest without undermining its tool character. Water-resistance is 200m.

The Frontier launches in two colourways. The Alpine model features a glossy, opaque white dial with black-plated hands and indices delivering maximum contrast in bright conditions. In contrast, the Night edition gets a glossy black dial with bold luminous markers that come alive in low light, offering a stealthier, more tactical look. Both dials are clean, symmetrical, uncluttered, and functional, featuring a lollipop central seconds hand and an orange GMT hand, with a date window at 6 o’clock.

Powering the Strat-o-Timer GMT Frontier is the Miyota 9075, a true traveller GMT movement with an independently adjustable local hour hand. Jack Mason has used this calibre since 2022 and regulates it in-house to ±5 seconds per day. Operating at 28,800 vibrations/hour, it offers a 42-hour power reserve and allows seamless jumping of the local hour hand when crossing time zones, with the date adjusting accordingly.

The watch is worn on a solid steel bracelet with a micro-adjusting clasp. Leather and tropic-like rubber straps are also available from the brand. Pre-orders open on February 13th at 9 am EST, with deliveries expected from February 27. The price is USD 1,099. For more information and to make a purchase, please visit Jack Mason’s website.
