The Nomos Glashütte Tangente Neomatik Update features one of the most original date displays introduced in recent years. Launched in 2018 in a 40.5mm case, this peripheral “ring date” indication became a defining one for the brand’s modern watchmaking, just as the original Club Sport Neomatik Worldtimer collection revealed at Watches and Wonders 2025 did. This year, the Update returns in a more compact, versatile format: meet the new Tangente Neomatik 38 Update.

The Tangente Neomatik 38 Update’s case measures 38.5mm in diameter and just 7.4mm in height, refining the original into a more balanced, wearable dress watch that very well aligns with the trend for smaller watches. There’s also an evolution in material. For the first time, the Tangente Update is offered in 18k gold, alongside the classic stainless steel version. The Tangente’s Bauhaus-inspired design remains intact, with clean lines and angular lugs, but its reduced size provides it with a softer appearance. Water-resistance is 50m.

On the dial, the key element is still the patented ring date. Positioned on the dial’s periphery, it displays all 31 days at once, with two red-coloured markers framing the current date, keeping the dial open and symmetrical while remaining very legible. The dial is a silver-plated base, with printed Arabic numerals, slim baton markers, and a recessed small seconds at 6 o’clock, offering a calm, precise, and functional layout, with just enough detail. Two gold executions are available, including a “doré” variant with tone-on-tone hands. Another gold-cased Update features blued hands, and the steel variant offers them in black.

The watch is powered by the in-house calibre DUW 6101, Nomos’ automatic Neomatik movement with integrated date mechanism. Measuring just 3.6mm in height, it remains impressively slim despite the complexity of the peripheral calendar. The movement features bidirectional winding, a quick-set date that adjusts forward and backwards, and the brand’s proprietary Swing System escapement. It is also finely regulated in six positions, in line with Glashütte standards.

With this 38.5mm version, Nomos makes one of its most distinctive complications more appealing. The addition of gold further broadens the appeal, offering two distinct personalities: a clean, everyday steel model and a more elevated, precious metal alternative. Worn on a leather strap, the new Nomos Tangente Neomatik 38 Update is priced at EUR 3,680 for the steel version and EUR 12,400 for the gold version.
