Introducing

The Sophisticated & Feminine Montblanc Bohème Perpetual Calendar 36mm

A sophisticated perpetual calendar complication for women with a richly decorated dial.

| By Rebecca Doulton | 2 min read |

Like many of Montblanc’s watches, the name Bohème was originally assigned to a line of fountain pens. Released in 2014 as a collection of women’s watches, the current collection of automatics and day & night models expands with the arrival of a sophisticated Perpetual Calendar in 36mm rose gold and two-tone rose gold and steel cases with beautifully decorated dials.

The perpetual calendar is no newcomer to the Bohème collection and was featured in the 2014 launch. If kept wound, perpetual calendars provide the time, day, date, month and leap year indications, without needing an adjustment until March 2100. Capable of tracking months with 30 days and programmed to recognise when February will have 28 or 29 days, perpetual calendars are fascinating miniature calendars for the wrist.

The new Perpetual Calendar is available in polished 18k rose gold or 18k rose gold and steel cases with a diameter of 36mm and a height of 10mm. The bezels of both models are set with 60 brilliant-cut diamonds. The four round sub-dials of the perpetual calendar are placed in the central area of the dial with months and leap year indications at noon, date at 3, moon phases at 6 and day of the week at 9 o’clock.

Echoing a star-studded night sky, the sub-dials are set against a sparkling grey background formed by thousands of micro-diamonds covered with a bright metallic PVD coating. The three calendar sub-dials are indicated by rose gold-plated hands, and the cursive inscriptions pay tribute to the art of handwriting, a theme close to Montblanc’s heart. The moon phase disc is made using serigraphy with patterns and colours suggestive of watercolours. Another beautiful touch is the silvery white chapter ring stamped with a “trail of stars” pattern. The applied rose gold-coated floral Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock and the wedge-shaped indices are indicated by elegant gold-plated leaf hands.

Like the first QP models of 2014, the watches are powered by the automatic calibre MB 29.15 (Sellita SW 300 1a base) with a Dubois-Dépraz perpetual calendar module. With a frequency of 28,000vph and a power reserve of 42 hours, the functions can be adjusted with the correctors on the case middle. Each model is delivered with three interchangeable calfskin straps: beige with alligator print, black, and burgundy with alligator print and a shiny finish. The price of the two-tone rose gold and steel model is EUR…, while the rose gold retails for EUR…..

  1. Hi Rebecca,
After a discussion with my Granddaughter it seems like I’m none the wiser what sort of watch (if any)the modern lady requires, maybe a survey is needed.
    Thanks Grandad.
