Introducing – MeisterSinger No. 01 City Edition, 45 Different Editions Paying Homage To Your Favorite City
MeisterSinger is a brand apart… For one thing, they are the only watchmaker to offer only watches with a specific display, based on the “single-hand” concept – in various sizes, in various styles, with or without additional features, but always with one hand only to indicate the time. This has become a hallmark for MeisterSinger. Today, of course with the Mono-Aiguille idea fully preserved, the brand is launching a refreshing concept, with no less than 45 different limited editions, the MeisterSinger No. 01 City Edition, each of them as a tribute to the cities where its retailers are based.
As already mentioned, 45 different watches will be made, all in very limited editions (from 5 to 100 pieces depending on the edition), and these watches represent 43 different cities around the world (there will be 2 different editions made for Paris and Rotterdam), from London to New-York, to Sydney, Tokyo or Barcelona. All are based on the exact same watch, with identical look and specifications. The only difference between the MeisterSinger No. 01 City Edition watches will be on the caseback side, with the sapphire crystal being adorned with a printed silhouette of the chosen city’s skyline and a motto engraved in the surrounding steel along with the name of the city.
The partner jewellers have selected a wide variety of texts, from traditional slogans such as “Weltstadt mit Herz” (metropolis with a heart) on the Munich version to “entre amis le temps ne compte plus” (Lyon), “The City that never sleeps” for New York or the defiant motto of Paris “Fluctuat nec mergitur” – “Tossed by the waves but never sunk” on the city’s coat of arms. A nice tribute and a discreet way to express your pride, without ostentatiously showing it on the dial of your watch.
The MeisterSinger No. 1 City Edition is based on the most classical model of the brand, the No. 01. Housed in a 40mm stainless steel case is a hand-wound movement – based on the Sellita SW 210 (the same movement is used in the small MeisterSinger Phanero) – which is a simple but robust movement, which feels pleasant to look. It features 19 jewels, ticks at 4Hz and boasts 42 hours of power reserve. The case shape is in the vein of MeisterSinger’s production, with a large dial opening and a thin bezel. It is entirely polished and comes attached to a vintage-inspired brown leather strap.
The dial of the MeisterSinger No. 01 City Edition watches are all the same (no mention of the city it pays tribute to). Only the italicised “City Edition” lettering at 6 indicates the significance of these special watches. The dial has a specific colour, unique to this “City Edition”, a pleasant dark grey tone with a sunburst pattern. The only hand (which tells the hours and the approximate minutes on a large and legible track), as well as all the markers, are done in white, however, the hour indexes are in a contrasting golden colour.
Note: the Edition made for van Willegen, large retailer in Rotterdam, will be limited to 100 pieces and features a specific hand.
These MeisterSinger No. 01 City Edition watches will be available in September from selected MeisterSinger retailers (see the list here) for a price of US$1,695 / 1,498 Euro. More details on www.meistersinger.com.

No Italian cities, so not for me. Some strange city choices.
