The Glashütte Original Panda-Style Seventies ‘X’ Chronograph, an Exclusive North American Edition
A limited-edition chronograph with a classic black-and-white panda face is unleased in North America.
Glashütte Original’s Seventies chronograph captures the iconic design groove of the 1970s with its square, TV-shaped case, integrated bracelet, and cool luxury sports watch looks. Since its debut in 2014, the Seventies Chronograph has been revisited with vibrant-coloured dials. The latest release, the Seventies ‘X’ Chronograph, opts for a classic panda-style dial with a matte white lacquered background and black galvanised sub-dials. Marking a first for GO, the Seventies ‘X’ will be available exclusively in North America and is a limited edition of 100 pieces.
The dial of the watch has been crafted by the brand’s in-house dial maker, recently relocated from Pforzheim to Glashütte. With its matte white lacquered background and glossy black counters at 3 and 9 o’clock, it’s easy to see why these chronographs were nicknamed panda dials when they gained popularity in the 1960s and 1970s. Decorated with snailing, the sub-dials resemble vinyl records and feature white printing, along with a red ’10’ in the 30-minute elapsed time counter to mark the tenth anniversary of the collection. The small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock features an integrated power reserve indicator.
Sticking to the black-and-white panda theme, the applied indices are white with a black frame, and the arced 12-hour totaliser has a black background with white numerals, just like the brand’s signature Panorama date window at 6 o’clock. The central hour and minute hands are also black with white Super-LumiNova, while the central chronograph seconds hand is red. The TV-shaped case, made of stainless steel, measures 40 x 40mm and has a thickness of 14.1mm. The rounded corners soften the geometry, and the architecture of the case and bracelet is highlighted with alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces. Protective crown guards ensure the case’s 100m water-resistance.
On the technical side, the watch is powered by the in-house, integrated automatic flyback chronograph calibre 37-02. As an integrated chronograph movement with a 70-hour power reserve, the crown and pushers are positioned on the same level, which nicely balances the case’s appearance. Naturally, as is standard with most of GO’s automatic movements, it’s driven by the signature Double-G signed rotor.
In the name of versatility, the watch is delivered with a rubber strap and a stainless steel bracelet. The 100 pieces, retailing for USD 17,900, are available exclusively at authorised dealers in the USA, Canada and the Caribbean.

I don’t know about you, but all the TVs I’ve seen are rectangular, not square.
I’m not sure how the protective crown guards do anything additional for the water resistance…
All the TV’s I’ve seen don’t have a band on them either. Not sure what you’re going on about. Great looking watch. Love the size of the date.
They’ve changed the bracelet. I prefer the old style, which was more complex. Also, it looks like the middle polished part get wider from the second link? Is the whole bracelet wider now? Some odd choices here.
But the dial absolutely kills it. Bracelet aside, this is one of the best GO Seventies Chronograph references so far.
