The Compact 38mm Montblanc Iced Sea Automatic 0 Oxygen

Reduced dimensions, zero oxygen cases and glacial dials join the Iced Sea family.

As a brand that has always fostered its connection to Europe’s highest mountain, Montblanc’s Iced Sea collection of dive watches in 2022 was a surprise. With dials inspired by the Mer de Glace, the largest glacier in the Mont Blanc massif, the ISO certified dive watches can fathom depths of 300 metres. For 2025, Montblanc expands its Iced Sea Automatic Date collection with two new models in smaller 38mm case sizes, now with Zero Oxygen cases. In tune with the trend for smaller unisex diameters, the more compact dimensions are complemented with new glacier dial colours in frosty white and arctic light blue.

The new 38mm models come in stainless steel cases with a thickness of 12.3mm, decorated with predominantly brushed finishes and polished bevels. Equipped with the brand’s novel Zero Oxygen cases, seen with the Iced Sea 4810, a blue seal between the sapphire crystal and the case prevents fogging and ensures the components will not oxidise. The unidirectional dive bezel matches the colour of the dial and features an inverted triangle at noon with a luminous pip. The white dial is paired with a sleek white ceramic bezel, while the blue dial is matched with two-tone anodised aluminium inserts.

New to the 38mm case are the white and sfumato blue dials that replicate the colour and texture of glaciers. The dial is decorated using a piece of wood to scratch the surface (gratté boisé), creating the interlocking network of icy crystals that add depth and texture. Bold Arabic numerals at 12, 6 and 9 o’clock are filled with Super-LumiNova, as are the applied indices. The syringe-shaped hour and minute hands have Super-LumiNova inserts, as does the tip of the seconds hand. There is a framed date window at 3 o’clock.

An engraving of a scuba diver and an iceberg in relief on the caseback hides the MB 24.17 automatic, a Sellita SW200-1 with a frequency of 28,800vph and a 38-hour power reserve.

Both models come with interchangeable tapering steel bracelets with double-folding clasps and a fine adjustment system. Alternatively, they can be purchased with a sporty rubber strap with a similar clasp. Prices are EUR 3,600 on bracelet and EUR 3,400 on strap. More information at Montblanc.com.
