Discovering the New Favre Leuba Chief Skeleton with CEO Patrik Hoffmann

The Chief Skeleton takes the collection in a bold new direction!

A year after the relaunch of one of the oldest names in the industry, Favre Leuba is set to introduce its latest collection. During Geneva Watch Days, we sat down with Patrik Hoffmann, CEO for the brand, to learn all the ins and outs concerning the creation of the new Chief Skeleton. Based on the Chief collection that was part of the revival a year ago, the brand now pulls back all the covers with a rather impressive and modern skeleton version. With no less than seven references introduced at once, there’s plenty to be admired.

Taking its design cues from a 1970s Favre Leuba Chief Chronograph, the present-day Chief collection is presented as a more contemporary and bold interpretation. Although the lineage is present, modern dimensions and movements have taken the new Chief in a sportier direction. By opening up the movement of the Chief, Favre Leuba now adds a decidedly more daring take on the Chief collection to the catalogue, and it looks pretty darn impressive from all angles.

The cushion-shape is upheld in each of the seven new references, yet the movement is completely opened up. Available in bare steel or black DLC-coated cases, and with a 4N18 gold or black-chrome finished movements, and multiple colours for the rehaut, or chapter ring, there’s surely a Chief Skeleton to everyone’s liking. You can even change things up with coloured rubber straps that not only ensure a very comfy fit, but also an even more personal style. One of the defining details, true to Favre Leuba’s history, is the reference to the hourglass logo found in the construction of the skeleton movement, a lovely touch, elevating it to more than “just” another openworked watch.
