Hermès Brightens the Glass Fibre H08 with White and Blue Editions
Hermès revisits its geometric H08, combining an aluminium-coated glass fibre case with Bleu de Malte and Blanc Chantilly tones.
Hermès introduced the H08 collection in 2021 as a different take on the sporty-chic watch, first launched as a time-and-date series, then updated with a monopusher chronograph and, more recently, a skeleton model. The H08 stands out for its rounded square case, original Arabic numerals on the dial, and a mix of surfaces and materials that feels more considered than technical. Since then, the H08 has embraced titanium and ceramic, and in 2023 added references in a lightweight braided glass-fibre case coated with aluminium and slate powder, with concrete-grey dials and bright colour accents. The two latest editions keep the same recognisable silhouette and materials-led approach, bringing new colours.
These new H08 models retain their thin 39mm cushion-shaped case with softly rounded edges, measuring 10.6mm in height. The case is made from braided glass-fibre composite with an aluminium-coated surface, delivering a brighter colour than the previous slate-coated editions. The material’s interwoven structure gives it a distinctive appearance, while its lightweight construction suits the watch’s character.
The bezels are made from ceramic, with sunray satin-brushed surfaces and mirror-polished chamfers. One version uses white Blanc Chantilly ceramic, while the second features a blue bezel in Hermès’ Bleu de Malte tone. The H08’s foundations remain intact, and both versions keep the screw-locked crown, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, display caseback made from titanium, and comfortable 100m water resistance.
The first of the two models is quite monochromatic, pairing the white ceramic bezel with a white lacquered dial. Applied ruthenium-plated Arabic numerals are filled with Super-LumiNova. A grey printed minutes track circles the inner chapter ring, which is interrupted by a small date aperture at 4:30. Time is indicated by black-gold hands. The numeral design gives the dial much of its personality, and the overall effect is clean and graphic. An orange-tipped central seconds hand livens up the display.
The second version offers more contrast. The Bleu de Malte ceramic bezel frames a rhodium-plated, sandblasted dial, with applied ruthenium-plated Arabic numerals. Blue PVD-coated hands and the chapter ring continue the colour scheme, while orange markers on the seconds track and the seconds hand’s orange tip introduce an additional accent. This version also retains the collection’s distinctive typography. The date remains discreetly positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock, and the hands and numerals on both versions are treated with luminous material.
The new H08 watches are powered by the Hermès H1837, an automatic movement made by Vaucher Manufacture, a mainstay of the H08 collection since its introduction. The movement comprises 193 components and runs at 28,800 vibrations/hour, with a 50-hour power reserve. The calibre’s decoration includes circular graining and snailed surfaces on the mainplate, satin-brushed bridges and oscillating weight, and a sprinkling of Hermès’ signature H.
The white version is fitted with a Blanc Chantilly rubber strap, while the blue-accented model comes on a Bleu de Malte rubber strap. Both are closed with a titanium folding clasp. The two new Hermès H08 models are priced at CHF 7,510, EUR 8,150 or USD 8,600.
